My Avatar

When I was a young boy I used to daydream. I used to dream of the endless possibilites the future would bring. I'm older now and I've woken up. I recognize that every situation in life brings with it both positive and negative. Our role as emotional beings is to direct ourselves to the most desirable outcome and enjoy, or suffer, the consequences.

   Just another day
It's just another day, but when you're lucky to be alive sometimes that's enough to make you smile. I've made some decisions which seem for all the world to be horrendous mistakes, but if you are truly happy with your place in life nothing can actually be considered a mistake. I am where I am because of what I've done, fuck ups included. I'm thankful for all my experiences, even the painful ones, because they made me a stronger person.

Don't envy people who have had everything they want handed to them. The longer you go without the things you truly desire, the more you cherish them when you finally acquire them. When I was a child I was spoiled rotten and it really didn't mean anything to me. Only after going through some darker times was I able to appreciate the things I have been blessed with.

On a real life tangent, 2005 looks to be a great year for music, video games, and anime. Stromkern and Battery Cage have new CD's coming out soon, Samurai Champloo and Chrono Crusade are being released, and Resident Evil 4 is probably the most fun I've ever had sitting in front of a television. There is a lot to be excited about right now. Hello 2005.

   Who are you?
Are you who you want to be? Why the hell not?

The truth is no one has achieved everything in life that they could ever desire. The world is too vast to record every worthwhile accomplishment that is possible. Someone with this viewpoint will always end up depressed and unsatisfied no matter how hard they try.

A better question to ask yourself is, am I comfortable with the sacrifices I've made? Was choosing A over B the best thing for me to do? If not, why the fuck haven't you gone back and done so? Most opportunities in life don't disappear. They wait until we are ready for them. Do you regret letting yourself go physically? Your town has a gym somewhere. Do you wish you knew more about a certain subject? Buy a book.

People create invisible boundaries for themselves that only they can see to validate their own failures. No matter how much sense something makes to you, if you can't explain it to someone else it's probably self inflicted. Don't be your own adversary.
