Chapter 8

Tenten didn't awaken for a while, and Neji sat frantically by her side for the next hours that passed. He couldn't imagine why Tenten would believe such things of him, had he done something to make her so distrustful? He didn't know what to say to her to make her believe him. Its not like he was going out his way to talk to Akemi, he just happened upon her when he was actually on his way to see Tenten.

He had talked to Sakura the night before, and she agreed to keep an eye on Tenten while he rested, then he'd come back to allow Sakura rest. He had awaken kind of early that morning and jumped up to get dressed. He didn't mind sitting with Tenten, he loved watching her sleep. He had been about to cross the street to come up to see her, when he spotted Akemi trying to carry a too heavy bag down the street. On instinct he offered his aid. As he was helping her carry it back to her room, he had joked with her about how puny girls were, and thats what Tenten saw, them laughing and joking.

Neji lowered his head into his heads in frustration. She'd never believe him, how could she think the worst of him so easily like that?

Back at the INN, Hinata and Kiba was leaving, with Akamaru following behind, as always. Hinata was lost in her thoughts of the night before, oblivious to everything around her, but Kiba had his senses alert. After about an hour of them just walking around and looking, Kiba was sure that they were being fallowed. At first he had wanted to make sure he was correct, but after an hour, he was certain.

He didn't want to alarm Hinata, or ruin her good day just yet by letting her know, so he decided to ignore them a while longer, hoping that their would not be a confrontation. He wanted Shikamaru there to help him before anything took place.

Another hour passed, and still they were being fallowed. Hinata noticed half an hour ago that they were being fallowed. Mostly from the look on Kiba face told her.
She could tell he was preoccupied, and once she realized it, she began to search around for the real cause. She knew Kiba wanted her to have a good day, so she decided not to say anything just yet about it also, but not that half an hour had passed since she realized it, she didn't want to remain silent.

They soon came upon a little area, crowded with people going about their daily life. They found a bench and sat and watched the faceless people walk by. Akamaru lay at their feet watching, too.

"What do you think they want?" Hinata said softly, not bothering to look at Kiba.

Kiba glanced at her, not really shocked that she noticed, she was bound to sooner or later.

"You know that we are not welcome here."

"Yes, I know," Hinata replied, still not looking at him, but at her hands instead. "But you knew they were following, do you know what information they seek?"

"No," Kiba replied, not bothering to go into details.

Hinata glanced up at him, but he wasn't at her, but staring off at something in the distance, lost in thought.

"Is it because I am a girl that you choose not to tell me anything? Do you think I can't take care of myself?" As Hinata spoke, she became more and more angry. She couldn't believe she had spent the night with a guy who obviously had no respect for her gender. Hinata stood up in her rage and glared down at Kiba. Akamaru quickly jumped out of the way before Hinata's angry feet could accidently step on him.

Just as she was about to storm off, Kiba grabbed her around the waist and pulled her down into his lap, without saying a word he kissed her, forcefully and angrily. Hinata could do nothing but go along with it, but after a minute, she pushed Kiba away who tried to grab her hands, to subdue her, but it didn't work.

"How dare you do this to me!" Hinata
said, with fire in her eyes.

"I dare because I love you, Hinata." Kiba replied, trying to kiss her again, but when she wouldn't allow him to, he sighed, but held on to her. "Hinata, your the most wonderful girl I know. I am not trying to push you out of this because you are a girl, but in fact I know this battle will be rough, and I do not want you to get hurt."

All of Hinata's rage left her then, and shock took its place.

"I know you can take care of yourself, Hinata. You are the most determined person I know, you're so full of courage," Kiba said taking Hinata face in his hands and looking her in the eye, "but I also remember the , and I don't want to see that happen again."

Hinata tried to move her head in shame, but Kiba wouldn't allow her to. That day was so fresh in her mind, it almost seemed like yesterday, but she quickly pushed the memory back. She didn't know if she should become angry again or not, so she pushed her way out of Kiba's lap.

Kiba let her go, and sat to see what she would do. He hadn't meant to cut her so deep, but he didn't no how else to explain it to her. He watched her just stand there Her face turned down, but he could see the emotions running rapid across her face in a jumbled mixture.

Hinata decided to just get away from Kiba, she didn't want to talk to him, and didn't want to see him, so she ran. She began to run back towards the INN, bumping into to people, but not caring.

Still a few blocks away from the INN, Hinata stopped to catch her breath. She the noticed Akamaru standing right beside her, wagging his tail.

"Oh, Akamaru, you folllowed me?" Hinata said, bending down to pet him.

Hinata glanced up and around her, noticing there was no one around. That was strange, where are all the towns people. Then she spotted him. He came as calmly as can be walking towards her.

Hinata knew him as Kabuto Yakushi. Kabuto once lived in Konoha with them, but something happened, that couldn't be explained. Kabuto was now an enemy, and she knew she should probably run, but remembering her arguement with Kiba, she stood to battle.

"Hello, Hinata," Kabuto says, nearing Hinata.

Akamaru begins to growl a little, but remains at Hinata side.

"Well, I see you've taken off with Kiba's mutt. Where is he, by the way. I know you knew that I was following, and yet, he allows you to run, where you could easily be snatched up?" Kabuto glanced at Akamaru, "I guess, though, that is why he sent his mutt."

Hinata was about to comment, but then came a blur of everything around her, and then blackness.
