First post of the new year... and it's a RANT
Well... here we are again - another year on Otaku.
Haha... yeah, I can't say that yet.
Okay, this is my opinion, and if it doesn't float your boat, don't comment me saying 'oh that's wrong! I don't want to hear it (or read it for the bitches in the world like me who are like 'but you read it). If you can't take that I have an opinion that differs from yours, get out of my face..
So, anyway, I was chilling out, doing my daily routine on the compooper, and I came across this lovely stamp on Deviantart.com.
It reads: "Tired of Yaoi, we don't hate, we just wish you would write something else."
Well, ain't that a topic for debate?
I don't have a problem with the yaoi community and it's .... beliefs. (if that's the politically right way to put it), and everybody can be what they want to be and be happy (or so I see it). You're homosexual? Cool, whatever. I'm not. :)
But really now...
You're taking a straight person and making them gay/homosexual, pick your term.
That ain't cool. I have friends that like to create their own stories and stuff like that (I am slowly falling victim to it - later post). How would they like it, if their story became super famous (prime ex. Naruto), and fans made their characters a sexuality that they weren't intended to be?
I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't like it.
At all.
You go on FF.Net (fanfiction.net for the newbies [if there are any newbies]), 99.993939292192% of the fanfiction on their is Yaoi-
With completely straight characters.
But - don't get this wrong. Hey! If they're meant to be homosexual, go wild with fanfiction and be happy! But think; what if you took a homosexual couple, split them apart, and made them heterosexual?
It would cause an uproar, right?
Oh, yeah, you can use the whole "poetic license" crap on me, and do whatever you want - usually I just skip past yaoi anyway.
But it's getting to a point, that it's almost like Naruto fanart.
You see it everywhere.
Once again, I'm not against it or anything, but can't you ... I dunno ... expand your horizons or something?
That, too, can be flipped on me, I had realized just now.
So, I do realize that this will stop nothing, and I will continue to see it on a daily basis, probably for the rest of my time searching the internet.
