   Oooooooooooooh!
I'm so sorry I haven't updated my site, guys. Thanks so much for not deleting me off of your friends list tho and for continuously checking my site. You guys rock! Anyhoo...had my PSAT's this morning. And, I don't know how I did...all I know is I'm a little scared...or a lot scared. One or the other. And, yah...but it's cool. I got to see my friend Chris tonight! I was happy happy happy...I mean, wouldn't you be also if this was some guy that you liked for four years, then you had a falling out, and then...he goes away to boarding school and you like, never get to see him and now finally you saw him again and yeah...I'd be excited. Or I was...or I still am...I dunno...but, yah, uh huh. Life's ok. My firewall has gone screwy, so it's blocking all my web browser stuff...so I can only update this once in a while. I try!

This is Kataryu, by the way, so everyone has to stop by her site and say something nice to her! Yay...and you all have to vote on her pictures and make the ratings go up! Speaking of which, I'd like some of mine to increase just a bit. AND YOU PEOPLE STILL HAVEN'T TOLD ME WHAT BAND YOU WANT ME TO DO NEXT!!! Argh...

   Linkin Park
LINKIN PARK -
Quick Notes on the Linkin Park people…how the band really started:
~ Mike and Brad have been friends since they were thirteen since they went to the same high school.
~ Rob has been playing in the same band as Brad since junior high.
~ Mike met Joe in College.
~ Brad and Phoenix are roommates in UCLA.
~ The guys had been sending out demos and instrumentals and Jeff Blue, vice president of A&R at Zomba Music, got hold of it one day and sent it to Chester who was in Arizona - Chester recorded his vocals and called the guys the next morning - Then, he flew to California the next day.
~ And the rest, as they say, is history.

If you want some in depth info on the band and how they formed, interviews with the members, and other stuff like that, check out Linkin Park’s interviews with Rolling Stone and MTV has a thing or two to say about them as well. I’ll probably repeat myself later.

THE BAND:

Name: Chester Charles Bennington
Nickname: Chazy Chaz
Instrument: Vocals
Date of Birth: March 20, 1976
Place of Birth: Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, and now lives in L.A, California
Marital Status: Married to Samantha on October 31, 1996
Children: One son, Draven Sebastian (born on April 19, 2002)
Siblings: Older brother, Brian, and two half sisters
Education: Greenway High School then moved to Washington High School and graduated in 1994

Some Interesting Facts about Chester:
~ Chester has a tattoo on his left calf muscle of the soldier with wings from the "Hybrid Theory" CD cover. The flames on his arms represent the Aries part of his fire sign. His left shoulder has a Piscean symbol and a Japanese Koi carp on his right. His back piece is six arms spread out and was done by his friend who said it was a visual representation of how Chester reaches out and grabs the audience. All of Chester's tattoos symbolize something. His left hand has his engagement finger tattooed and his wife, Samantha, has the same tattoo. And they did it before Pamela and Tommy Lee. They got tattoos because Chester couldn't afford a ring and his friend (Sean from Grey Daze) had a tattoo shop and did them for free.
~ When Chester was young, he'd sing around the house, dreaming he was the fifth member of Depeche Mode. Thanks to his brother (who's 13 yrs. older), Chester was influenced by bands like Loverboy, Foreigner and Rush. Chester's career highlight so far is making the "One Step Closer" video.
~ Chester is the only member that needs a carrying-kit cargo case for his wardrobe. He's got shoes that go with every outfit, his underwear has to match his outfits, and his socks have to match his shoes and his pants. Everything is a very big deal to him.
~ In airports, Chester has to take off all his metal spikes, bracelets, etc. and he has a little bag or something that he arranges them all on. They must be in the same place every time.
~ Chester's first band was called Grey Daze in 1993. Grey Daze was actually pretty popular and getting airplay in the Phoenix, AZ area, but, they never got signed. Eventually Chester got tired and had to move on. Chester was also upset that he was writing the lyrics by himself while all the band members took credit.

My comments: Chester is probably what makes Linkin Park, literally. Without him, we wouldn’t have the super awesome on-key screaming voice! Aside from everything good about him, Chester does have a bad mouth…I was reading the interviews from Rolling Stone and saw f***ing almost every other sentence or so. Does he have to do that? The band never cusses in their songs…why do it in person? Defeat the purpose…

Name: Robert Gregory Bourdon
Instrument: Drums
Date of Birth: January 20, 1979
Place of Birth: Originally from Calabasas, CA, and now lives in L.A.
Marital Status: Single
Education: Agoura high school, then went to Santa Monica College and majored in accounting

Some Interesting Facts about Rob:
~ Rob's previous day job was as a waiter.
~ Linkin Park watches videos of themselves and Rob (according to Brad) never plays a part wrong, but he'll always point out if something's not up to par. Rob is the practice-perfect technical guru of the band.
~ Linkin Park is NOT Rob's first band. He started playing in bands when he was around 13 years old and he'd play cover songs like Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' with his buddies. That's when he met Brad and they played for about a year. It was rock meets rap and funk; they were called 'Relative Degree'. They practiced a lot, played one show, and then it fell apart.
~ Rob likes to play the piano when he has time. He used to take classical lessons when he was young and was forced to keep going.

My comments: Did you see? He’s SINGLE. Sorry, he’s a hottie and he rocks on the drums! How good can it get? Plus, he plays piano and so do I! Wow…too bad he doesn’t know I exist. I love watching him play in the music videos - have you seen the water splash thing he does in FAINT? Woot woot…this guy is going to go far…imagine going from waiter to the coolest drummer ever that plays for Linkin Park? Ok, I’m done now…

Name: Bradford Philip Delson
Nickname: Big Bad Brad
Instrument: Guitar
Date of Birth: December 1, 1977
Place of Birth: Originally from Agoura, CA, and now lives in L.A.
Marital Status: Married
Siblings: 2
Education: Agoura high school, then graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications

Some Interesting Facts about Brad:
~ Brad graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. Brad and Phoenix were roommates in college. He didn't go to law school so he could pursue his career in the band.
~ Brad is a fan of Britney Spears and the rest of the band is embarrassed of him.
~ Brad calls himself "BIG BAD BRAD" or BBB, that's how he signs his name (BBB).
~ Brad's first instrument was the trumpet. Brad's first band was the Pricks in 1994. Brad was also in a band with Rob. It was rock meets rap and funk, they were called 'Relative Degree'. They practiced a lot, played a show then it fell apart.
~ Brad's musical role model is Chester.
~ Every Christmas (or almost every x-mas) Brad and his family hold a dinner in an auditorium for the homeless & Mike likes to help out.
~ Brad was voted Most Unique in his high school yearbook.
~ The first time Brad heard 'One Step Closer' on the radio, it wasn't the full song: it was a clip of the song on a radio spot, and Linkin Park were all in the van together.

My comments: Fans of Britney Spears scare me…other than that though, this guy sounds ok. It’s pretty cool he was voted Most Unique in his h/s yearbook. I bet I’d make it in my h/s too. What h/s? I’m homeschooled…this guy helps the homeless…now that’s cool.

Name: David Michael Farrell
Nickname: Phoenix
Instrument: Bass
Date of Birth: February 8, 1977
Place of birth: Originally from Massachusetts then moved to Mission Viejo, CA, and now lives in L.A.
Marital Status: Married to Lindsey
Siblings: Older brother Joe
Education: Phoenix graduated from UCLA with a degree in Philosophy

Some Interesting Facts about Phoenix
~ After moving to CA, he joined a band in high school called 'Tasty Snax'. The band later changed their name to 'The Snax'. While Phoenix was with The Snax, he transitioned from guitar to bass guitar and stayed with it ever
since.
~ Phoenix was the original bass player in Xero. Phoenix played with Xero until he decided to tour w/ The Snax for a year and a half & then came back to Linkin Park.
~ Phoenix was taught how to play guitar by his mom, his greatest inspiration. Most inspirational to Phoenix is his older brother (Joe).
~ Phoenix is also responsible for some of the song writing on the "Hybrid Theory" CD.
~ Phoenix's most humiliating experience on stage was slipping and falling in front of everyone.
~ When they were first starting out, Phoenix and Brad were college roommates so they would drive to practice together.
~ Phoenix has played lots of instruments including the violin.

My comments: I like the fact that his greatest inspiration is his mommy. That’s great when your parents have been such a force in your life that you look up to them. And, he played violin. That’s almost funny.

Name: Joe Hahn
Instrument: Turntables, Samples, Beats, & Sounds
Date of Birth: March 15, 1977
Place of Birth: Glendale, CA, now lives in L.A.
Marital Status: Single
Siblings: 2 older sisters. Joe's parents are Korean
Education: Hoover high school; he studied in Pasadena Art College of Design but did not graduate

Some Interesting Facts about Joe
~ Joe has a split personality called Remy.
~ Joe came up with the concept for the "One Step Closer" video.
~ Joe and Chester both agree the Foo Fighters' "Everlong" is quite possibly one the best songs ever.
~ Joe and Mike both majored in illustration. They were both interested in painting and Joe stayed at the college for a year then he got into motion pictures. He worked on Sphere and Phantoms. He worked on monsters in movies.
~ Joe was born in America, but his parents are Korean which makes him Korean.

My comments: Why did my brothers think the rapper for LP was called Joseph? Anyway, this guy definitely MAKES the band. Without him, we wouldn’t have all of those awesome songs with all the cool melodies and extra voicing (instrumental synth stuff). Who cares if he’s mental - mental people bring great things.

Name: Michael Kenji Shinoda
Instrument: Vocals, Beats + Samples, Keyboards, Guitar
Date of Birth: February 11, 1977
Marital Status: Married to Anna
Siblings: Brother Jason. Mike is half-Japanese
Place of Birth: Originally from Agoura, CA, and now lives in L.A.
Education: Agoura high school and graduated from the Pasadena Art College of Design were he majored in illustration but studied graphic design heavily

Some Interesting Facts about Mike
~ He majored in Illustration but studied graphic design heavily. Mike got a job as a graphic designer right out of college. Mike designed the soldier on the "Hybrid Theory" cover.
~ Mike & Brad met in 7th grade.
~ Mike had to do his eighth term finals (at Pasadena art school) the same weekend Linkin Park did a showcase for about six record labels (exams at the same time when things started happening for the band...talk about a nervous breakdown).
~ The first time Mike heard 'One Step Closer' on the radio was in Arizona.
~ Mike took classical piano lessons for 10 years. He got sick of playing classical music though and moved into jazz then hip hop.
~ Before Chester joined the band, Mike would do his parts and find friends to do the other vocals.

My comments: I knew there was a reason why Mike could scream well too. He was doing it way before Chester! Yah…I love this guy’s art! It reminds me of Gundam Wing models and anime stuff. Makes sense, he’s half-Japanese. And, he plays the piano too! YAY!

Over all, the band’s a really sweet group. If you want more on each individual, go to the official Linkin Park site, or you can look up interviews with the band members on big music sites like MTV, FUSE, Rolling Stone, and also on internet servers like Yahoo and AOL. Yah, this is definitely an extended repeat of what I said earlier…

Looking to buy Linkin Park? Amazon has good deals on their CD’s and often, they’ll have special deals... Or, you can try Ebay or a music store. Duh, of course they sell Linkin Park there. I think CD’s range from $12 - $21 (for Live In Texas, or at least that sounds right). Then again, if you wait a little bit, they may go down in price. Who knows, they’re a hot band.

MUSIC VIDEOS:

Comments: Have seen all of these, but I’m going to comment on the ones I know, er, remember. Lyin’ From You is good, except for the fact that it’s undeniably flat…Chester - screaming…yah. I like the guitarist in this one…he’s funny to watch. Breaking The Habit looks like it’s trying to imitate some kind of style of anime - reminds me of Akira almost…I dunno. But, I really like this song and what it has to say. Somewhere I Belong makes me happy because it shows the Gundam Wing models in the beginning. And what’s with the giant elephant mammoth thingies? Faint is sweet! It starts out in a crowd and in the end, you see the band in front of this graffiti wall or something. And, Rob does his splashy water thingy…YAY! Numb = life story. So I like it. PTS.OF.ATHRTY scared my friend, and me for that matter. It has the sweetest computer art though and I like it lots and lots! Kinda reminds you of a sci-fi robot invasion of some sort. Crawling is really worth seeing. The glass shattering all over adds an effect. In The End is by far my favorite music video. It shows death at the beginning, and rebirth at the end so it’s really more of an uplifting kind of music video to watch. The whale flying in the sky rocks!

1. Lyin’ From You (2004)
2. Breaking The Habit (2004)
3. Somewhere I Belong (2003)
4. Papercut: Live @ The Docklands (2003)
5. Crawling: Live @ The Docklands (2003)
6. Faint (2003)
7. Numb (2003)
8. Place For My Head (Live) (2003)
9. Faint (Live) (2003)
10. PTS.OF.ATHRTY (2002)
11. Kyur4 Th Ich (2002)
12. Frgt/10 (2002)
13. With>You (2002)
14. Crawling (2001)
15. In The End (2001)
16. One Step Closer (2000)

If you want to see the music videos, Yahoo Launch has them all plus a bunch of other goodies. Or, you can see them on FUSE, the best music video TV station out there!!!

Credit for this info-jammed packet on Linkin Park goes to Rolling Stone, Yahoo, Amazon, and the LPTimes. ~HeartOfSword~
