   full metal alchemist ova

Rumors from sites in Japan are starting to leak into the states. It appears that in the spring of this year there may be a new edition of Full Metal Alchemist released in Japan.

The rumors first started back in the spring of '05 when an exclusive clip of never-before-seen Full Metal Alchemist footage was shown at an exhibit for the new Full Metal Alchemist ride at Universal Studios Japan. The animation shown there was only a short story depicting the Homonculus vs. the State Alchemists in a battle that wasn't really part of the official lore or "canon" of the series. The animation was supposedly for the purposes of the exhibit only, but many wondered if there wasn't something else in the works.

Now a Japanese Full Metal Alchemist fan-site reports that there will be a Premium Collection OVA (original video animation) DVD released in the spring. The site reports that the OVA will contain the animation shown at Universal Studios Japan as well as 3 other new stories.

Are the rumors true? We'll have to wait and see. At the very least, I think it's likely that the Universal Studios Japan footage will be released in some form. Considering the immense popularity of the series both in Japan and around the globe, that alone could be a nice little money maker for the animation studio.
