Arkansas
Ghost of the Crescent Hotel
Location:Eureka Springs, Arkansas
If you like ghosts, you might want to stay in room 218 at the Crescent Hotel. Image waking up in the middle of the night in a strange hotel room to find a ghost staring at you. At least one visitor staying in the room said this happened to him!
Another guest was reportedly pushed out of bed in room 218 by someone or something invisible.
There is even a story that a woman staying in the room once ran screaming from it in the middle of the night. She said there was blood splashed on its walls. When the room was inspected, no blood was found. Had she been dreaming---or did something strange really happen that night?
A hotel employee once tried to show this room to guests, but encountered an odd problem. When he tried to push the door open, somepne pushed back from inside the room. After a brief struggle, he finally got the door open. There was no one inside.
Is there really a pesky ghost haunting room 218? If so, who is it?
The Crescent Hotel was built as a vacation resort around 1885. During the hotel's construction, a Swedish workman named Michael is said to have fallen to his death in an area where room 218 is now. His description matches that of the ghost people have seen: muscular, blonde, blue-eyed, wearing clothing typical or a carpenter or stonemason.
Michael is a goofy ghost, who seem to enjoy playing tricks on hotel maids. He tugs there carts, flips Tvs and lights on and off, and bangs on walls.
Michael may not be the only spirit at the Crescent Hotel. A distinguished genetleman ghost dressed in old Victorian-style clothing has been seen more than once in the hotel lobby and bar. Ghost have also been spotted in rooms 202 and 424, though no one knows who they might be.
The Crescent Hotel saw hard times in the early 1900's. It became a women's collage for a while. Then, in 1937, a man named Norman Baker bought it and turn it into a hospital. Though he had no apparent medical traing, Baker began developing and selling medicines. He even peddle a "cure" for cancer. Most of his cures were dismissed as quackery, and authorities eventually imprisoned him for fraud. Some belive Baker's ghost lurks on the hotels first-floor stairs.
Today, the lovely Crescent Hotel is still popular with guest---and possibly with ghosts as well.!!
