Hi, this is Akiko filling in for Em because her computers messed up at the moment.

Next challenge will hopefully be sent out on Friday, keep checking your inbox.

The winners of the short romance story or short story romance poem are up.

1)Akiko44- her reading level throughout the whole poem was 12.0 Congratz.
2)Tohmalover14- very nice story. Loved it. 2.1 reading level(congratz you got higher than what I normally do!)
3)hinata-tenten521- great poem. ^^ ANOTHER 12.0 POEM!!!!! Congratz too!

Don't feel bummed because yours got a low reading level. The poems are shorter and its easier to write them.(well from my stand point it is. I'm sure you all did the very best you could). Well Thanks for reading.

Also, today Akiko44's poem will be posted today. And then over the next couple of days we will rotate to Tohmalover14's amazing story, and then Hinata Tenten's equally good poem. Keep checking back guys.

Riding Hoods Charming Wolf.

On a stormy night it does start
A tale of old, taken to heart
Fairytale whistles slither through dreams
The tale of Maiden Red and her charming Wolf
Was simply more than it once did seem

Riding cape adorned the wind
Held tightly, Saftey pinned
Thickets of thorn and tree
Blocking the path of Maiden Red
Narrowing distance thy could see

Wearily walking along the path
Hands held a walking staff
Basket tumbled and jumbled along
Along the path with Maiden Red
Humming a werewolf song

The shadows crept and she lost her tune
Errie light seeped from blood red moon
Far in the distance a wolf was heard
Blocking the path of Maiden Red
Light drowned out by a Raven bird

Stumbling along with her walking stick
Running the path far too quick
On trees root her cape caught
tripping but caught by strong arms that wrapped
Drowning eyes of jewels, silver wrought

A cheshire smil slinked on his lips
As she straightened he released her hips
She eyed him wearily from whence thee stood
He, blocking Maiden Reds path
Whislt tugging flirtaciously upon her Red Riding Hood

"Alone in the dark, I see my dear"
For seconds she pretended not to hear
"Allow me to guide you little miss!"
He began to lead Maiden Red down the path
He was rough and handsome, but followed by mist

With path opened of tree and root
The talked through various owls hoot
Now red was no expert on love, you see
Tho' heart was won by Wolf in sheeps clothing
She sighed dismay when Gran's cottage was spied through tree

Silver wrought eyes became fearful
with a kiss of the cheek and a whisper of "I must go"
He was gone swiftly, leaving a line
Of dust retreating from Maiden Red's path, as well as
Not but a single rose, with leaf, on a vine

Now sad and dreary, she still went
Into Gran's cottage to return what was lent
T'was not long before a knocking came
A huntsman, traveled from the path
With blood on face, and one eye lame

With heavy pack be stumbled in
Giving Maiden Red a leering grin
Upon the mantle he thrust down
His heavy pack, next to Maiden Red
"Caught me a wolf stealing sheep in town!"

Words that turned Red's blood cold
But to ask, to question would be too bold
Far long hours later the Huntsman slept
As well as Gran and the forest creatures, but for
All of that Maiden Red wept

Indeed t'was a wolf he had caught
But one with beautiful eyes, Silver wrought.

I have been really busy so I haven't been able to read the challenge entries. So very sorry. Also I am giving you all a week break from the challeges. Starting today. I will go in detail and give an example when the time comes.

Club update will be on Monday.

Next Friday I will give the new challenge. Then 4 weeks after that will be the end of the challenge.

I am only giving you all a week break because my lap top won't sign me on to the internet and that's where the example is...On my lap top. RRR..... but Hopefully next week it will do a better job...after I work on it some.

Not much today. I know everyone must be busy as of late.

I have a scene from a play that Angel of Strife has written. Or is writing rather. I hope you like it. ^^

Act 1
Scene 1

(Enter Priest.)
(Enter Myrmidon.)
(Priest and Myrmidon are walking through a quiet field.)
Priest: So…Myrmidon, where are we going?
Myrmidon: We’re going to find those little brats that stole our money.
Priest: The…little brats that stole our money?
Myrmidon: Yeah, those dirty ones in the rags without shoes. You remember don’t you?
Priest: Oh, those children. Well, they didn’t steal our money. I gave our money to them since they’re not so fortunate, and they can’t buy anything to eat.
(Myrmidon stops, and glares at Priest.)
Myrmidon: …You’re kidding me!
Priest: Nope, the word of the good Lord never speaks insincerely. Now, those children can have something to eat.
Myrmidon: Yeah, but now we don’t have the money so we can eat anything!
Priest: Myrmidon, don’t you see? It was for a good cause.
Myrmidon: Goddamn, I hate you!
(Priest pleasantly chides Myrmidon.)
Priest: Now, you shouldn’t say such things.
(Myrmidon barely misses Priest with his sword as Priest bends over, and plucks out a rose from the ground, and smells it.)
Myrmidon: Damn it…
(Priest stands back up with the rose still in his hand.)
Priest: You see, Myrmidon, the world is full of beautiful things…like this rose.
(Myrmidon angrily slices the rose in half with his sword, and the top-half of the rose falls on the ground.)
(Priest becomes concerned.)
Priest: Hey…is something upsetting you?
(Myrmidon’s eye is twitching.)
Myrmidon: ...I swear to God…that I am going to kill you…
Priest: What?
(Myrmidon clears his throat.)
Myrmidon: Oh…um…nothing. Let’s just get back to those brats—I mean…um…those sweet children…so we can…um…see how they’re doing.
Priest: See, Myrmidon? I knew there’s some good in you.
(Priest and Myrmidon start walking again.)
Myrmidon: …Yeah…there’ll be some good when you’re rotting in a ditch…
Priest: What?
Myrmidon: Oh, I didn’t say anything.
(Priest and Myrmidon enter the town.)
(Myrmidon sees the kids that he was looking for.)
(Myrmidon is pointing in the opposite direction.)
Myrmidon: Hey, Priest, look! It’s…uh…a…crying child!
Priest: Where?
(Priest runs off in the direction of which Myrmidon pointed.)
Priest: Don’t worry; I’m coming…wherever you are!
(Enter Kid #1.)
(Enter Kid #2.)
(Enter Kid #3.)
(Myrmidon walks towards the kids, and stops in front of them.)
Myrmidon: Okay, do you kids remember a priest that came by earlier today, he gave you money, and has a creepy smile?
Kid #1: Do you mean Priest?
Myrmidon: Yes, exactly.
Kid #1: What about him?
Myrmidon: Well, I need the money back. So just give it to me.
Kid #2: No way, Jose! The priest said it’s ours!
(Myrmidon becomes irritated.)
Myrmidon: …Okay…we can do it the easy way, or we can do it the hard way. So just give me the money back.
Kid #3: No! It’s ours!
(Myrmidon sighs with irritation.)
Myrmidon: Fine…we can do it the hard way.
(Exit Kids #1 & #3.)
(Exit Myrmidon.)
(The focus of the scene is on the street.)
(Kid #2 is talking from off-stage.)
Kid #2: What are you doing with that sword?
(Blood splatters on the street.)
(Exit Kid #2.)
(Enter Myrmidon.)
(Myrmidon walks back on the street, and his clothes, sword, and shoes have blood on them. There is also blood in his footsteps.)
(Enter Priest.)
(Myrmidon is counting the money in his hands.)
(Priest sees the blood on Myrmidon.)
Priest: Is that blood on you?
Myrmidon: Um…no…it’s um……don’t worry about it. Let’s just go.
Priest: But what is that red stuff on your clothes?
Myrmidon: Nothing, let’s go.
Priest: But Myrmidon—
Myrmidon: It’s nothing. Let’s just go.
(Priest and Myrmidon walk away from the town, and into the horizon.)
Narrator: And so, our heroes journey on! But little do they know that there is a dark fiend plotting to rule the universe, and enslave the human race as we speak!
(Exit Priest.)
(Exit Myrmidon.)
(End Scene)

Hope you enjoyed it! Good luck on the Challenge. Its due August 29th!

Nothing is new. Its been pretty much the same as when I left. I think that since we are only getting a few(a few being 1 or 2) people joining in the challenges we are just going to make challenges longer and more in detail. That way if you are going to write a story we would like it to be worth reading. Esspecially if there are only a few people doing it.

The winner of the last challenge was..Shippou123
The runner up was...hinata-tenten521

They both were great!

I don't exactly know what the challenge is going to be. If you have an idea could you send it in please. It would be highly appreciated (gosh i cant spell).

THIS POST IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!

The reason we have not been posting is because of the latest challenge! I entered something in and there fore I can not place the challenge! The other founder hasnt found the time to read them either! So we have resorted to this...We are going to post the writings that the challengers sent in....under code names. so please all you have to do is place the name and the number that you think they should be placed in into a PM please.. (1-6) Here we go....also if you know who's writing it is please make a FAIR judgement on what place they should get. We are going with the over all average of what each writing gets. So if "One" gets two ones and three fours then the person would be placed in the four. Sorry we are not all set up for this club.

"One"
Letter to me by:Brad Pasley

Dear
Me,
This song...it makes me think of
how you should not let great oppertunities in life go by. The line in :Hug Aunt Rita every chance you get reminds me of my late grandfather. It makes me want to spend as much time as I can with my family. It makes me sad because,I know they won't always be here but they will aways be with me. The song makes me want to live life to the fullest and appriceate all that I
have lots of things happen in life
I will enjoy it while I can. While I sit here writing this now,I think of the past and the wonderful memories I hold dear.
This is my life and I want to live it to the fullest.I could have chose any song to write about but, I chose this song. It is one of m favorites. Surprisingly I have only heard it moments ago. Right now I am thinking of A few years ago in 3rd grade. Every student wrote a letter to them self and put a few things in the evelope with the letter. We were told not to open it until the day we graduate from highschool. I am still waiting for that day.
Yours Truly,
Me,Myself,and I

"Two"
There are many songs that I could choose to write about. I love a lot of songs, and a lot of songs have touched me. The most interesting song to write about, however, is probably “In the Moonlight” by Kotani Kinya.
I first heard the song whilst watching the Gravitation OVA. After Shuichi and Ryuichi sang “Shining Collection,” Shuichi began singing this song. Though it was in Japanese, I could feel what it was about by the tone and mood. The subtitles helped me to understand exactly what it was about, and I soon found myself looking up the whole song, as the OVA only showed a fragment.
The song itself is about two lovers who had been together, and had seen an orange-coloured moonlight. They had since separated, and are watching another orange moon, but separately. They were longing to see each other again. They wanted just to be with each other, if only just to see that beautiful moon together. This story drew me in. It reminded me of the background story of my main original character, Mai Black. I could also identify with it in some way, though I am only 14.
I soon wound up learning the song, which helped me learn some more Japanese. I also drew a picture and wrote the kanji out of the whole song for that image. This song has influenced my art and writing heavily.
Also, it broadened my imagination. I began thinking more about scenarios between characters with this background. What if they did this? What if that? What if they actually did watch the moon together again? The song leaves some questions, but that’s good for the imagination.
In conclusion, “In the Moonlight” is a really interesting and deep song. I believe that Kotani Kinya deserves praise for this song.

"Three"
“Meat Is Murder: Review”

If there were any song that changed the human mentality, I would have to say that it’s The Smiths’ “Meat Is Murder.”

It really changed the way people think about the meat industry. Usually when people think of meat or animals, they don’t think of the animals that were slaughtered to make the meat. They usually think of how adorable the animal is, or how fascinating it might be. They never really think about exactly how the meat was brought into the supermarket. I mean, people are paid to slaughter, gut and skin innocent animals just so we can taste the flesh and blood from their bones. People usually don’t think about that when a slice of steak or ham is put in front of them, do they? Before I listened to “Meat Is Murder,” I didn’t either. But how would I? I’ve never really heard the views of a vegetarian or a vegan before then. This is exactly what converted me to vegetarianism. Now, every time I see someone cooking meat, it seems like one of my friends were killed in that brutal fashion. Even though I didn’t last as a vegetarian for long, I still think about the animals that died unfairly when I see someone cooking meat, or meat on sale at any sort of market.

Not only did it change my opinion on meat itself, but also the activity of hunting. Personally, I was never able to kill an animal. But to me, killing an innocent animal for fun is just unspeakable. I’m absolutely amazed that anyone could shoot and kill a deer just for the sheer fun of it. I see hunters as monsters. These people are absolutely heartless, or they’re just blind to what they’re really doing. In one of Morrissey’s interviews on “Meat Is Murder,” he mentioned how the royal family of Great Britain goes fox hunting. As he said, “These are despicable people.” I’m purely amazed that the royal family has the lack of heart to chase after innocent foxes with these huge dogs just for fun. If I would kill an animal ever in my life, I would probably hang myself out of the guilt.

Also, “Meat Is Murder” caused an outrage worldwide! I would imagine that tens of thousands of people became vegetarians and vegans after listening to “Meat Is Murder,” and thinking of the animals going through the slaughterhouse.

These are probably the lyrics that grabbed people the most. “And the calf that you carve with a smile: it is murder. And the turkey you festively slice: it is murder. Do you know how animals die? Kitchen aromas aren’t very homely. It’s not comforting, cheery or kind. It’s sizzling blood, and the unholy stench of murder. It’s not natural, normal or kind: the flesh you so fancifully fry; the meat in your mouth as you savor the flavor of murder. No, no, no. It is murder. No, no, no, it is murder, and who hears when animals cry?”

This is why I like “Meat Is Murder.” It’s because it gives a strong message, like all popular music should.

"Four"
I would like to thank Saosin for writing such a beautiful song. The song I chose to write a story for is You're Not Alone. My story is as follows.

Walking through the park of evergreens, a man slowly aproachs a headstone.Searching for his lost loved ones. As he sits there looking at the graves he says," Why them, how come it could'nt be me.I have nothing else to live for." For a moment after, he could hear the voices of the dearly departed loved onessinging to him. He heard what was," You're not alone. There is more to this i know. You can make it out. You will live to tell."

On the other side of the world there lives a little girl. The spoiled rotten girl is confused by the lies conserning the weath of her unknown father. As she trsvels she runs into the man that is looking for his lost loved ones. The man asks," what are you looking for?", she replies," I am looking for myself." The man turns to her and says," Yourself is right there." He points to her heart. She seems to be happy to be there as her eyes turn green.

The man starts to sing," You're not alone. There is more to this i know. You can make ot out. You will live to tell." As he continued singing getting softer and softer the little girl begins to die. As the man stops the little girl is dead. Yet she is standing right there in front of him.

The man finally realizes that he has been with the ones he loves the whole enire time. The man was in heaven. Along with his spoiled rotten daughter.

The little girl found herself that day. She also found her long lost father.

The two of them were reunited right before they went to heaven.

"Five"
There for you- Fly Leaf

My Three Great Friends,

There is so much I have to say to you. You helped me when I was in need. You never let me down. And in just writing this it makes me cry.

To my three great friends I owe the world. I want to be there for you. But I'm a selfish fake. A no one that would be nothing with out you. I love you. And I always will. It runs deeper than you can imagine.

And some how even though I am a bad friend you were always there for me. I just want to be there for you. I want to be someone you can come to. I just want to be there for you.

Your eyes of many different shades, The blue calms my nerves and the brown hushes my urge to cry. We watch as the sun comes up over the horizon on many occasions. Those days where we were inseparable. Those nights that we couldn't get to sleep. And all those times we got in trouble and you said, "Let's do it again!" You have always been a true friend and all I have to give is nothing. I love you deeper than my bones.

You speak the unspeakable thoughts. You're my everything. You're masterpiece beautiful. I just want to be there for you. I want you to be able to trust me, to believe me.

So I write this as an apology and a plea. I love you with all my heart and I want you to be able to come to me when you are in need. When you have a problem I want you to be able to tell me what's wrong. I'll listen intently as if you had just spoken your first words. You are my best friends. I want to be there for you.

The only friend that wasn't good enough,

Em

Will his dream ever come true?

Here I am- this is me
There’s no where else on Earth I’d rather be

In my dream, I am driving my best friend; Mariah home, she is asleep beside me. I look at her slightly parted lips. They are plump, but they are cracked because they were sun burnt. I knew she needed to go home and of course we’re neighbors, but I wanted those sweet moments to last forever.

Here I am- it’s just me and you
And tonight we make our dreams come true

We were at a railroad, and a train was beginning to pass by, so I had a chance to look at Mariah. She had her cherry red MP3 player going, but I couldn't see her current song because her thumb were covering the screen. I leaned down and kiss Mariah's forehead. A sigh escaped her sun damaged lips and I recoiled, but she was still sleeping, but a smile appeared on her pink face. She was having a dream in my dream?!

It's a new world- it's a new start
It's alive with beating of young hearts

The train was over now. I gave her a final look before driving over the tracks. The sad thing was that she was no longing facing my direction as she slept. I wonder, what would she say if I told her that I love her? I guess I'll never know...

It's a new day- it's a new plan
I've been waiting for you
Here I am

While I was driving my mind flashed over what I have wanted. I have wished to date her for the first time at her favorite restaurant, and then go roller skating, because she loves to do that. I had imagined me waiting at her door, holding tulips, her favorite flowers. When she would open the door, she'd gasp over the flowers, I'd teasingly say 'here I am'.

Here we are- we've just begun
And after all this time- our time has come

I finally turned onto our road after twenty minutes of driving. I sighed sadly, because I knew these last forty-three minutes were coming to an end. With my right hand I nudged Mariah awake. I was pulling into her gravel driveway. She was awake, well she was still tired looking, but that was normal for her. There is always a look in her eyes, when she first wakes up, a dead kind of look. She looked around to gather where she was and she realized that she was in my stopped car in front of her empty garage. her parents work a night shift.

Ya here we are- still goin' string
Right here in the place where we belong

She sighed softly as she was getting out of the car. She smiled at me, but when she spoke, she didn't say good night, no, she asked if I could come in. Of course I said 'yes'. This was a dream I was loving more and more. We went to her living room and plopped down on the couch like it was where we belonged. A boy and a girl, best friends since the times that we could remember.

Here I am- this is me
There's no where else on Earth I'd rather be

Yeah, it sounds kind of cheesy that I love to sit next to her on the couch. Nothing could have ruined my bliss, well other than the fact that I had to wake up sooner or later.

Here I am- it's just me and you
And tonight we make our dreams come true.

I reached down and grabbed the remote, like I have done so many times during the afternoons that I am not working. I had my left hand clasped around the silver controller, with my thumb over the red and white power button, but Marian put her hand over mine. She smiled, when did she apply lip gloss? She parted her lips slowly, just enough that they were almost impossible to resist. I looked away from her and looked at my hand, her small hand that was free covered my cheek, pulling me closer, ever so closer to those perfect lips. After what felt like thirty hours, maybe thirty years, our lips finally met.

Here I am- next to you
And suddenly the world is all brand new

In my dream Mariah had been the one with the first move. Also in my dream, my dumb-seventeen-year-old-boy brain refused to piece together the obvious. I HAD to ask her if that meant she liked me!

Here I am- where I'm gonna stay
Now there's nothin' standin' in our way

She laughed at me. I swear to you, I never knew that your dreams can take such horrible turns and still turn out to be the best dream you ever had. She told me that I was the perfect boyfriend.

Here I am- this is me

That is for my retelling of my dream. Now, I am laying in my bed, like the pathetic boy that I am.

Here I am- next to you
And suddenly the world is all brand new

I sighed heavily and flopped over onto my side when I hear the doorbell ring. Funny, I never knew that was what it sounded like. So I walk to the door.

Here I am- where I'm gonna stay
Now there's nothin' standin' in our way

I blink slowly. there was Mariah, her dyed black hair, flipped out, a soft pink lip gloss on. I love how it makes her lips look even more kissable. I stand aside so that she could walk inside. She smiled tentatively at me... she never smiles tentatively, she always puts a smile on that makes the world want to smile.

Here I am- this is me

She started to walk in, but instead of just walking towards the hall, she headed for me, and put herself in my arms. I embrace her, feeling the heat rising in our bodies. This time my dumb-seventeen-year-old mind knew what this was. I lifted her chin and looked into her grey-blue eyes before leaning down to kiss her shiny, kissable lips.

Song lyrics- 'Here I am'
Sung by- Bryan Adams
Album- Spirit: the Stallion of the Cimarron (The Soundtrack)
Lyrics found on- www.imeem.com

Okay thanks so much for your help. If there is something like this happens again I will be sure to come to you. We might need an extra helper for the site.

Next weeks challenge is a two week challenge! The challenge is to re-write a fairy tale...any fairy-tale. Including Alice in Wonderland. It starts after you read this and ends NOT next Thursday night but the Next Thursday night. Meaning July 27th.

I hope that this all goes well...

Nothing new with the club. We only got one submission to the free week. And I didnt even know what it was for. O_o stupid me! Anyways here it is!

Valkyrie

Valhalla, the souls are restless,
Braying to me, they do,
Odin, they who are relentless,
Need to be returned to you.

Valhalla, the candles are lit,
In a glimmering moonlight bright,
A Hall of victory and wisdom,
Here I will ride them tonight.

Valhalla, the stars are empty,
The luster gone from their eyes,
Yggdrasil, whisper to the roots,
Before Nornir knew their cries.

Valhalla, where specters drink valiance,
Amongst the bravest gone,
I’ll ride to meet the chosen,
Prepare for their journey long.

Through fields of stench, wielding death,
Come now and ride with the Valkyries,
Silvery eyes, and misty sighs,
Whose mounts are as swift as the sea.

Yggdrasil who knew us before,
And after our bodies spent,
And Nornir as mentioned knew all,
To the land of shadows went.

Ridden in waste was Odin’s haste,
The flying Valkeries, ride on,
Beneath a sea of flames,
And thrice one blinks, they’re gone.

Gone to the starless halls of sky,
Open vale on high,
Beneath the blanketed silken grass,
The Valkeries ride through the night.

Things kinda ran over so we wont be doing the person of the week this week. But next week we definatly will. This week is just gonna be a free week. If you have something you want to send it we will post it. They site is gonna be non-stop this week!

Our challenged turned out really nicely there were a lot of great stories! They five people that entered wrote amazing stories.

here are the places!

1) Tohmalover14
2) Naughty-Dog-Girl
3) Kaisap112
4) Akiko44
5) Angel of Strife and Hinata-Tenten521 tied for 5th.

I would like to remind you about the on going challenge for this week. Its fairly easy. All you have to do is pick a song that appeals to you and write a story about it or why you like it. Story would be more interesting but if you write why you like it then that's fine too just go into detail about it.

Well here is Tohmalover14's story for the challenge.

How many of you wonder what it is like to be dead? I’ll tell you this; IT SUCKS MAJORLY! Being a ghost, I can’t do squat. And I miss eating my younger sister’s cooking. Having a body is something none of you should take for granted, seriously. If floating aimlessly is something you find fun sound still, I’ll gladly take your place.

So, I guess you’ll like to know how I died, eh? Hmm… where should I start? Well maybe my name would be a nice place to start. Okay, my name is… err… was (I don’t know) Adrian Christopher Boyd. And don’t rearrange my initials to ABC, it’s not cute, and no my nickname will not be ABC.

Okay, okay, I am getting back on track. I mean gees, you humans have time to worry about, and all I have to worry over is to not float into someone. Now that’s creepy. Any way, I guess I have more explaining for you guys. Hmm… ah yes.

It all happened to have started three days ago. It was Tuesday afternoon at lunch. Like any other day at Burgsville High, the sophomores have last dibs on lunch at 1:15 to 1:45. I would place us at 1:38 give or take a minute or two.

So my friends and I were sitting back down at our table that sat in the furthest corner of the room, and it is by the only window. There were five of us. Three guys and two girls, all of which were dating… except for… yeah you guessed it, myself. Now that I look at it, I am glad that I was single, means that I don’t have to worry about my boyfriend. Oh yeah, our table was named ‘the gay corner’ by the jocks and preps. Heh, we really did live up to our table’s name. Anna and Rina were dating and Jake and Matt were dating.

I think I was looking out the window while the others murmured sweet nothings, and or, groped each other. It was Rina’s happy voice that made me turn to look at her and Anna. “I think we should go to that old house that’s on Lake View Drive. It’s supposed to be haunted!” This was more likely our lesbian Goth’s idea, but Anna never says anything unless she is given some kind of sweet. Snickers are the best, that is, if you ever meet her.

“Why do you want to go there, Rina?” That was Soccer Stub; Matt’s husky reply. Actually, I think he wanted to get back to running his hand in the hair of the skater boy of the group; Jake.

“Because I want to see if we can see a ghost. That would be so cool!” The ‘fearless’ cheerleader answered, jumping in her seat. Her short, blonde hair bouncing with her.

“Rina, you can’t just start a sentence with ‘because’, it isn’t proper.” Oh yeah, Jake is a skater boy with a brain.

“Yeah, yeah. Like I actually care.” Rina replied as she dug through her purse to pull out her bubble gum pink lip gloss. “Like I said, let’s go see the ghost house Friday.”

“I don’t see why not. I mean, I doubt we’ll see a ghost in there, but a creepy old house, I am in.” That was me. I was kind of a Goth that got mixed with a baseball jock. “What if we met a vampire? Oooo… I’m gonna suck your blood Rina!”

“Oh yeah. Chris, vampires aren’t real.” Matt said suddenly.

“Hah, like that hicky doesn’t say otherwise!” I shot back. That got me a cold glare and his hand slapping his neck where Jake had left his hicky.

“Horny males are just lovely.” Anna said in her low, yet angelic voice.

“So?” Rina asked the two boys who were back at speaking idiot language. The three of us that were actually in the world of reality knew that they would agree to go.

“Sure.”

“Well, Matt’s going. I might as well go too. I have nothing planned.” They said after they broke apart because the bell dismissing us to our seventh period.

Anna and I went to the same class, which was in the opposite direction as the others. We had World History. “So, my dear cousin, was that really Rina’s idea?” I asked.

“What do you think?” I swear she just talks your ear off all the time. Even duct tape would keep her quiet.

“Adrian!” I heard my name as I was about to enter Mr. Byrd’s room.

“What Emily?” Cassandra Emily Boyd is my younger sister that is in the ninth grade.

“You have to stay after school. I’ve got basketball practice.” She said softly as she poked my cheek with her left index finger, the nail painted an obnoxious bright green, mostly to blind someone if the light of the sun hit it at the right point.

“Today is Tuesday though.”

“Scrimmage, tomorrow is our first game of the season.”

“Ah, okay.” With that I left her to go to her algebra class.

I sat down by my cousin, who was coloring her pinky nail black with her permanent marker. “I have to wait for Ems, or do I have to walk to Aunt Jen’s?” She asked without looking up. And her Aunt Jen is my mother. Anna lives with is because Uncle Don; her father, is a jerk and kicked her out shortly after Aunt Rachelle’s death.

“Get a ride with Rina.”

“Doctor’s appointment.”

“Matt and Jake?”

“I would be better off walking, than ride with them. They grab at each other. You boys are gross.”

I shrugged. I can’t say I’m innocent. I’ve dated them both. And I lost my virginity to Matt. “You’re not any better. You and Rina kissing gave Emily nightmares for weeks.”

Anna didn’t answer. Maybe because the meanest teacher in the whole school finally walked in. “Who can tell me what country is in two continents?” Today must have been a good day. Normally he shouts, and demands that someone tell him the answer. My hand was the first in the air, in fact I am pretty sure I was the only one. I knew this and I knew that Anna knows the answer too. “What is it Mr. Boyd?” I wonder how many times he calls out the Boyd last name, since he also teaches the ninth grade American Government class, which means he has my sister.

“It would be Russia, which is part of Europe and Asia.”

“Good, good.” he said with satisfaction. And the rest of the day and week left me as bored as ever.

Finally it was Friday. Just to catch you up. Rina is a nervous wreck. Apparently she is scared of ghosts and vampires, and whatever else she believes creeps out at the dead of night. That poor girl. It was six in the evening. I was finishing up the pick up route for the five of us. Anna and I sat in the front, the others sat I the back. Matt and Jake were to remain separated in the back.

“Are you sure you want to do this Ri?” Jake’s voice comforted.

“Uh… yeah!” She said with a tone that said he was an idiot for even doubting her, even though she was scared stiff.

“Okay then. Lake View Drive beware, The Gay Brigade is coming in!” I shouted over the roar of my engine. I had brushed my blond heir, high lighted with black dye, out of the way of my baby blue eyes before I backed out of Rina’s driveway. I saw that she was shaking like a terrified kitten and Jake was rubbing her shoulders to try and calm her down a bit.

We end up there around eight because Anna wanted to wait a couple hours so Rina could settle down. And Anna ended up switching spots with matt, so that she and Jake could keep the shivering blonde from emptying herself for the second time.

“Are you sure you want to go in? We can just go see a movie.” I suggested.

“Movies are fake, this is the real deal.” She answered. I sighed, she wasn’t going to back down. I blame it all on Anna.

“Okay.” I said softly as I patted her on the head like she was a younger sister. “Jake, you’re small. You can fit in the basement window and let us in through the back door.” I said, since we already tried the doors and they were locked.

He nodded, but Matt wanted to be difficult. “Rina is small too. She can go in there and- OW!” Anna had punched him in the head.

“Idiot.”

“Bitch.”

“Good.”

“I’m going to go do it, Matt.” Jake said in a gentle tone, and brushed against him, kissing him before he set off to jogging to the only basement window. His bright yellow flashlight hitting his leg from where it hanged.

The four of us moved toward the back door when we saw him disappear and heard a crash of boxes. When we got to the door we had to wait a minute or two, when we finally head the deadbolt unlock. Jake’s light brown hair had like a million cobwebs in it. Rina squealed when she saw a spider on his red jacket. Anna had to cover Rina’s mouth to muffle her. Matt walked to Jake and flicked the spider away.

He was inspecting the dusty skater boy. “If he is hurt, Chris, I’m kicking your-”

“I’m fine, Matt. Don’t be so protective of e.” He rested his pale hand on Matt’s shoulder as he spoke.

“Okay, if you say so, Jake.” Matt’s voice was soft, and no longer held a hatred towards me.

“calm down boy.” I said as I squeezed past Matt to get into the house. I turned on my blue flashlight. There were two staircases, one was on my left, that lead to the basement I assumed since it went down. The right set I would save for later.

“Where do you want to go?” Jake’s voice softly washed over me. Why did he always do that to me?

“Not sure. How about straight a head?” I pointed the dim light down the hall. I thought I saw something shimmer when my light hit. My thoughts then, ‘Damn, that must be a lot of dust.’

“Sounds good.” Jake smiled at me, apparently hadn’t seen ‘my dust’ thing.

Matt was the one that lead us to the living room. “And straight a head you can see that this was the living room. It was said that the thirteen year old son was as gorgeous as yours truly. But, the father was insanely jealous of the young boy’s looks and bashed his head in with one of those fire poker things right in front of the fire place.” He paused letting us take in, what now looked like piles of dust collected over the years.

“The mother of the son had witnessed the boy’s death, but she did nothing because she thought her medication was messing with her mind. The husband hear crying. Placing the poker do-dad back, as if he hadn’t just murdered his own child. He walked her to the kitchen table and gave her a glass of water. When she was calm he slit her throat, leaving her to suffer and drowning in her own blood.”

Rina was crying now. “Stoppit Matthew!” She held onto Anna tightly. Anna brushed her blonde hair sweetly.

“You are fine. That happened over thirty years ago.” Anna mumbled softly in Rina’s ear, though the rest of us could still hear her.

“Yeah, the guy would be over sixty or seventy. And he is still in the insane asylum back in Washington.” Matt added. “So, therefore, he is too old and feeble to do anything, and he is locked up too.”

“W-what a-about the g-ghost?” Rina stumbled over her words.

“There is no such thing.” I had answered, then thinking that I was right, Matt and Anna nodded in agreement. I knew Anna believed in ghosts, but she knew that her girlfriend didn’t need to hear that.

“It is just a rumor. A light hasn’t been turned on in over thirty years.” Matt replied.

I looked over at Jake. Now he is pale all the time, but he was paler than normal. “I-I just saw the dad outside the window.” His soft grey eyes were filled with terror.

“Stop screwing with her!” Anna shouted and hugged Rina tightly as if someone would actually break through the window.

“He is locked up on the other side of the country.” I said. I was the only one that didn’t believe Matt’s ghost story… well besides Matt, but I actually think he believes himself.

“But I saw him! He pointed to Matt. And I think he mouthed ‘you’re next’. This is just creepy! Matt, I want to go home now!” Jake demanded. That was never a good sign. As long as I have known him (My whole seventeen years) he has never demanded a thing. When he demands something he is beyond serious.

Matt walked to him and embraced him, shushing Jake like he was a small child. Well the guy was a shrimp, standing a five foot six, if he was on the good side of Lady Luck. “We’ll go home and we’ll watch a movie. Titanic?” That was Jake’s favorite movie, as well as the girls’.

“I want to watch it with you guys.” Rina said, a little calmer now. She was looking over Anna’s shoulder.

“I don’t think-” Anna spoke until she was cut off by Matt.

“Sure, Anna and Chris should come too.” Jake nodded in agreement with the taller man.

“Not you too, Matt.” I moaned.

“Chris, quit the act. You aren’t fearless. What about snakes?”

“Snakes are real, and terrifying. Ghosts are made up and therefore not something I am scared of.” I then wish I had braver friends. I wonder what they would say if they knew I am a ghost now. Probably something like ‘I thought you didn’t believe in ghosts.’ I can’t say that I would blame them.

“Nothing has to be real to be scary. And can you prove that ghosts don’t exist?” Jake asked.

“Can you prove that they are real?”

“No, but-”

“Ha! My point is proven.” I laughed mockingly and Jake just sighed to give up his argument with me. Then, at that second, I felt as if my blood froze for a second. I shivered.

“Adrian, are you getting sick?” Anna asked, still holding Rina.

“You didn’t notice the drop in temperature?” I asked everyone. They all shook their heads ‘no’. My thought then, ‘great, now I am crazy too!’

“I want to go home! He is watching us, from the door!” Jake pawed Matt’s chest.

“Go wait in the car then!” I stopped listening to Jake after he said that the man was watching us from the door. I turned on my heel. Again, I saw that ‘dust’ thing. But this time I had thought it looked like it blinked. But it was gone before I could look harder at it.

I headed for the staircase that lead upstairs. Had Anna left the door open? I swore I had heard it close behind her. Hmm… must have imagined it. I stepped on the first step and it creaked loudly. Making Rina scream equally high pitched. I shook my head. There was nothing scary about this place. Well maybe it housed a couple of snakes and several mice. I looked at the top of the stairs because I knew I saw movement. Nothing.

“I am just lucky there is no snakes. Damn things. Thai is probably what I saw.” I mumbled to myself. I reached the top and I noticed there was a small table that held up a vase that was blue and white, the colors swirled around each other. I walked to it and I noticed that there were three streaks in the dust as if someone ran their index, middle, and ring fingers over it. I looked at my hands though the prints were going the wrong way to have been me, and plus I hadn’t touched the ceramic container.

“That is too creepy.” I said to myself. I turned away from the vase. I was heading to the stairs. There stood my friends.

Their eyes were on me for a second, then I swore I felt a breath on my neck. “Whoa.” I said softly, under my breath.

“Adrian!” Anna screamed. She was looking at something that was behind me. I heard the creak of the first step as she started up the stairs.

I turned around and there stood a man sixty-eight? He had pasty white skin and was bald. He was wearing a white gown, maybe from a hospitable, and it had a lot of mud on it. His eyes were a deep blue. They were murderous. “Die.” He said hoarsely. His breath smelled of fish… rotting fish.

I finally noticed that he had that blue and white vase in his hands. It was raised above our heads. I took a step backwards. Before I fell I saw my ‘dust’ figure. It was a ghost! It was his son! It was scary, that boy looked a lot like Matt. Red hair, green eyes, and they would be brothers, even twins if the boy was three years older.

I fell down the stairs, I think Anna moved so she wouldn’t fall too, I guess I looked pretty bad, and well that is what happened…

I blinked. Where was I? It was way too white. “Oh Good God. I have gone to heaven.” I mumbled, and that hurt a lot.

“No silly.” Emily’s voice said. She sounded like she had been crying. “Mom, dad, Adrian’s awake!” I blinked again. The golden blonde hairs of Emily were blocking my view of our parents.

“What happened?” I asked, I realized that I was in the hospitable… yeah I am late at realizing things.

“You had a car accident. Someone collided with your car. They ran the sign.” Mom answered. Tears welling her eyes.

I smiled. At least that was all a dream. “I’m okay now mom.”

“You were said most likely not to make it.” Dad said sadly, holding mom as she started crying. “You were out…” He paused to take a breath. “For three days.” He grabbed my shoulder. “Son? When were you planning to tell us that you were gay?”

“What?” I thought I already told them.

“You claimed you were gay, and that you loved Jake when you were out.” Emily said.

“Don’t bother him with that now. The doctor needs to check him up.” Mom said pushing Emily and dad away. When they left the room she kissed my forehead. “I love you Christopher.”

“Where are the others?” I asked mom softly as she pulled away from me.

“They were with you in the car accident, but they all died. It was extremely scary. I am glad that we still have you Christopher.” She said softly. Her blue eyes welled with tears again. Probably tears for Anna and the others.

“Hello Adrian Christopher. I’m Doctor Dave.” His voice sounds familiar. But where?

I looked up at him after mom left. What I saw was the old man! The same deep blue eyes, the same bald scalp. He smiled, “so you do remember me.”
