Chapter 2

“So? Is she hot or what?” Bobby asked Max, spraying aerosol cheese into his mouth. He had tipped his red framed sunglasses, looking over at Max, who was still in his skating gear. P.J. was already dressed in blue pants and a blue sweater, wearing a navy colored beret. P.J. had been dressing this way since he’d met his girlfriend.

“How should I know? She was kinda cute I guess, but she’s a book nerd. She was reading The Hunchback of Notre Dame. IN FRENCH.” Max said as he took off his helmet, “there is no way that you could call her hot.” He finished taking off the rest of his gear, and stacked it next to a mountain of his clothes. The room was a disaster, but they’d become accustomed to it, since his dad never checked in anymore.

“So? Lots of book nerds are hot. They just need a little push in the right direction! OW OW OW OW!!” Bobby howled, pumping his fist in the air. Max rolled his eyes and walked over to his bed, sitting down. Some of the clothes that were on his bed fell off the edge, and he bent over to pick them up.

“Bobby, I’m not in the mood. She said she wanted to check out my skating; wanna go to the skate park right now?” Max asked, rubbing some sock fuzz off of his shirt. P.J. shook his head no, straightening his beret as he did it. Max already knew what he was going to say ‘that he was going to go see his girlfriend.

“I’m sorry Max, but I can’t. I’m going to go see--”

“Your little Java Bean?” Max interrupted, chuckling. He got a laugh out of Bobby, but P.J. didn’t look very happy. He sighed and rubbed his forehead, as though he had a headache.

“I already told you that her name was Jeanne.” P.J. said, frowning as Max and Bobby snickered at his comment, “yeah, I know that her name rhymes with Bean Scene… so what? Maybe I’ll see you at the park later, but I can’t go right now. Bye.” He sighed and walked out of the room. Max and Bobby had a private laugh at Jeanne’s expense, but went quiet soon after.

“So, what’s she look like, your little book nerd?” Bobby asked, grinning. Max opened his mouth to response, but the door opened wide behind him, and he didn’t have to describe Tera anymore. She waltzed right into his room, wearing a towel. She didn’t look embarrassed, more like she was pleased with herself.

“Can I use your shower?” Tera asked, “mine’s all dyslexic and doesn’t like to work. And I’m sorry I tailed you to your dorm, but you seemed like a nice person and all. So, can I use the shower? Oh, and if I can, where is it?” Max and Bobby nodded in unison to her first comment, then pointed at a door across the room. She nodded her thanks, and walked over to the door, opening it wide and closing it behind her.

“Wow. She was HOT!!” Bobby said quietly, trying not to attract Tera’s attention form within the bathroom. Max was still speechless, and he was blushing bright pink too. Max knew he was going to have to tell Bobby about Tera, so he began.

“Um… that WAS the book nerd…” Max said, pointing at the bathroom. Bobby made a sound of disbelief, and Max had to cover his mouth to stifle it. When he removed his hand, Bobby was wearing his usual, goofy grin.

“If you’re not gonna try to hit that, mind if I do? ‘Cause it be smoking!” Bobby said, tipping his sunglasses. For some reason or another, Max didn’t really like the idea of Bobby with Tera. He was a player rather than a serious boyfriend, and he needed someone to balance him out. Besides, the idea of Bobby having a girlfriend was just sort of weird.

“Bobby, you’ve been unsuccessful with the ladies for years now. I don’t think that this one’s gonna help you change.” Max said, Bobby frowning, but eventually nodding, “anyway, maybe you should go get some breakfast; you look kinda hungry.” Bobby chuckled and left the room, putting his can of aerosol cheese into his pocket.

“Jeez, that guy is weird.” Max said to himself, folding up his clothes. He put away the clean ones, and packed up the dirty ones in a bag. That way, he wouldn’t have to worry about a thing. He’d remembered to leave the whites in one bag, and the colored shirts in another; that way, the colors wouldn’t change.

“Max, you do your old man proud.” Max chuckled, taking the photo of him, his father and Ms. Marpole and putting it on his desk. Looking at it helped him decide what to do on that day. He’d completely forgotten that Tera had even come, and was now planning out the day.

“So, I’ll go to the skate park with Bobby, hang with P.J. and Jeanne at Bean Scene, and go to Club Rave tonight. Sounds good to me.” Max smiled to himself, putting the bags of dirty laundry into the closet. Tera walked out of the bathroom in her towel, humming as her long, wet hair dripped all over the floor. Max heard the humming, and turned around to find the source.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!” Max and Tera screamed at the same time, mainly because they’d startled each other. Tera dropped her towel in the confusion, which shut both of them up. They both stood still, blushing bright pink. Tera covered herself just as Bobby walked in the door.

“Hey Max, they didn’t have any good cream chee--WHA?” Bobby had began, before he looked over at Tera, “wowza, do you do this for guys often?” Tera blushed even darker, but picked up her towel. When she did, she grabbed a pillow and tossed it at Bobby, whacking him in the face.

“Not a good time for jokes!” Tera shouted, still blushing, “sorry about that Max… I’ll bring clothes next time…” She mumbled the last sentence, then fled the scene, leaving behind a blushing and bewildered Max.

“Wow-ee, I can’t believe you didn’t think she was hot,” Bobby said, looking over at Max, “Max? Hellooo?” Bobby tapped Max, who fell over, flat as a board.

“Ow.”

Yeah, so both stories will be updated every Saturday instead of Wednesday. Much easier on me.
