~Falling into Roses~ Chapter One
Church bells were ringing. It was, unfourtunately not for Church service on a normal Sunday. Of course, Raccoon City had no normal days. This, of course had to be a funeral. You could hear the Priest read from the Book of Revelations to the people, and to the dead who were passing on this day...but barely over the sobs of the mother, father, girlfriend, and relatives. It was a sad site to see, indeed. And what was worse was the fact it was an open casket funeral, allowing the people to see the dead body. Hell, there was nothing left, and two of the students there knew that much already. Standing far off from them, near the old oak tree were two teenagers known as Sakura and Serge.

A sigh escaped the male teen's lips, he lowering his sunglasses just lightly. "Sakura, you think this city will ever be normal again?" He asked and awaited for her response. Sakura shuffled towards a tombstone, and sat down on the very top of it, looking at him. "Nah, then it would be some boring old town with a movie theater and a skating rink." She stated. And the honest truth was just said. The city had been so dulled down in the past couple of years, even the dead left. Every now and then, Serge would have an attitude towards his friend, but over time, they grew to not cause each other problems, just the dead, which was completely ironic.

Mr. Reed came fourth to the two away from the crowd. "Did you two find anything...when you looked in the cafeteria?" He asked, somewhat shaking. Serge looked to him, removing the sunglasses and placing them in his hair. "Yes sir, but that is confidental information." The principal blinked."Confidential?" He asked, pondering on the thought of it being "confidential."
"Yes sir. That means we are not allowed to tell you what we found." Sakura stated in a British tone, watching her best friend chuckle at it. The day did need a laugh, didn't it? But it seemed Mr. Reed didn't find it funny. "This is a funeral..not some damn game being played."

And then, screams were heard. Serge, Sakura, and Mr. Reed looked up, and blinked. Outside of the casket was the body of Rick Jones, the star Quaterback of the football team. He was attacking people, and that was the signal for the two teens to intervein. Just like that, two guns were heard. One was a regular pistol. The other was an automatic rifle. Going off at the same time, the girl ran foward, since hers only shot one bullet at a time. Serge reverted to going over the tombstones. They watched Rick fall to the ground, headless, and more mutilated then he already was in the first place.

Screams were heard again. Ok, having guns out in at a funeral was a bad idea, but sure was worth it. Mr. Reed's eyes scanned the area, in shock. His gaze landed on the two with the weapons. "What..in the hell?" He asked, walking foward slowly. Sakura raised the pistol to his head."I don't know if Ricky boy here bit you or not..but you better pray he didn't..because, if he did, then I'd have to blow your head off." And with that Serge went to him, inspecting him. "He's clean....but we need to check everyone else." He stated and she nodded. "And what's stupid is they don't have the T-Virus cure anymore.."

'Woof woof woof' was heard now. The blonde's head turned to see three dogs. All three of them were torn up, and definately dead. Serge ran a hand through his blonde hair and gulped. "Dogs infected..this is-" He was pinned down by one of them, it about to bite his neck if not for Sakura's quick action. She was holding the gun to it's head and shot it, watching ti fly off and hitting a tree. Picking up his rifle, she started shooting the animals, watching the heads fly off and the bodies turn into limp formations. Kneeling down beside him, she checked for any bites or scratches, finding one. Her eyes went wide. "Serge...you've been infected..."

Serge looked up at her and sighed. "I'll fight back against the virus...and when I can't fight any longer, I want you to take me down....promise?" She clutched his hand and nodded. "Understood..." was all she said, hugging him tightly, not wanting to let go. He blinked, feeling warm tears on his forehead. "You're crying..." He pointed out and she only started to cry even more. He didn't understand it, she never cried, never showed fear, never broke down. But now, she was acting as if someone close to her was dying or something. "Sakura..I'm not dead yet.." She clung to him, holding him tightly. "I..you can't do this to me..."

Soon enough, rain began to fall down upon the two. Everyone left, since no one was infected and Mr. Reed had passed out somewhere near the church building. Sakura just sat there, crying and holding him close. 'This can't be happening..not now! We've only just begun working as a team..and now I don't have the chance to tell him I love him..Damnit..this is wrong..I can't love my best friend...can I? 'Were the thoughts running through her head at the time. Serge just wondered what was running through her head, he starting to turn pale and he was sweating. If he couldn't fight, then he'd have the one person he trusted shoot him.

The two were soaking wet, and Serge was clutching the ground. The virus was getting to him. "Sakura..finish me off...now..please." Sakura shook her head, looking at the wound, which was more infected then in the first place. Her heart started to pound and she shakily picked up the pistol, aiming it at his cerebellum. "I can't..." was what she said through tears, her finger on the trigger and he pulled back from her, his eyes dead looking. No words came from him, only grunts. He couldn't fight any longer, Sakura scrambling to her feet and shooting him in the forehead, cerebellum, and in the chest. Tears fell from her eyes as she did this, falling to the ground, crying.

Serge's body fell limp on the ground, not moving. Blood was on her hands, not seen. Her heart was pounding rapidly, she didn't have the chance to say it. "Serge..." She whispered, just watching the body with clouded eyes and no expression. Suddenly her head lifted and she pointed the pistol at a man standing behind her. "Sakura Sarashimi, you're wanted at the Hive immediately." He said in a monotone voice, and she got up, putting the gun up and looking back to the body. "Goodbye Serge..." She said softly and walked off with the man, her tears dried. Now wasn't the time to give in...not just yet.
