When things that once were beautiful are bland.
Comments on commentary-

Faruman- Yeah. I 'understand' why they loot, it just is irritating to hear about anymore. Watching the entire post-Katrina news coverage was very surreal. I'm sitting on my cushy computer chair, in my air conditioned home with a glass of iced tea I just prepared for myself- that is all 'normal', and, living as an American, that normalcy can be taken for granted. It's hard to appreciate normalcy [which is a weird statement], but once it is taken from you it is sorely missed.

Leaful- Er, well. I was watching CNN because I'm a whore to society. I'm sure some other channel was doing better coverage. I flipped to Fox, actually, and they were blasting neo-conservative rhetoric about the Iraqi war around. I was kind of amused at that.

Lit- I heard that from a movie or a game or something and I say it alot. I wish I remembered which movie/game I heard it from, hm.

Solar- When there is no law, people adopt their own moral compass as a law. Tch, I always wanted to visit New Orleans. Guess I'll have to hold off on that for a bit.

I wish you the best.

Irish- Whoa, look who strutted in. Long time no see, little chicka. *tips hat* You get my letter yet?

Well, to answer your first question.. uh, well, that's a good question. I suppose it really just boils down to people being stubborn. I can't really blame them for having a sentimental attachment to their city. Sometimes people just ignore logic- I guess that's alright. I mean, I don't recommend it but I do it myself sometimes.

Yeah I had a more astutely stated opinion on looting a bit afterwards. Most of the time when I write these entries I'm in some form of a manic mood so I don't always have the most profound of things flowing out of my mouth. I need to lay off the caffeine a bit I think. *rubs chin*

Tolkien was the first thing that came to my mind for some reason. It probably has something to do with some shitty animated gifs I had watched. I'm not really the best person for naming good authors. Most of the books I own are history books, lol. They need more ents though. I think the Battle of San Jacinto would be significantly more interesting with an army of ents crashing into it.

Yatta.

It's evolution, baby.

Theme Song of this Post: "Welcome Home" by Coheed & Cambria.

The situation in New Orleans is really just an example of what many communities around the globe have to do. They have to fight tooth and nail to keep the land that they seized from the planet. The entire country of the Netherlands, for example, is constantly defending itself from the savage seas just off it's coast. If the system they use to defend themselves failed I believe at least half the country would find itself a part of the ocean. For all the things humanity can create we still cannot do much about the extremes of nature. Even with hurricanes, the advances we have made in predicting their path basically just let us flee in terror from them sooner rather than later, lol. For all the praise we heap on this world, it is an unforgiving place. We have just adapted as a species to deal with it's danger as best we can at the time. Knowing the way humans work, people will return to New Orleans with the determined idea that they will rebuild no matter what. Most humans don't take "no" for an answer, not even from our own planet.

I wrote a little blurb last night:

You are walking. Through the fields of flowers, the ruined cities, the blackened skies, into this star ocean. Your inherited sins have ramifications recognized only through the blood loss you are experiencing. To cure it, you fly to here, this star ocean. This is infinity. Welcome to it. Here you can sink into the never ending beauty, into these majestic skies. You can be healed, you can see, you can hear, but can you feel again? Feel the touch, the breath, the aura of it all. You can feel again, you can smile again, you can live again.

With a start you wake up in your bed. You stand up, dress, and walk out the door into the fields of flowers, the dream festering within you. You glance past the ruined cities, the blackened skies and into this star ocean. You yearn to come here to be alive again.

Yet, with a sigh, you take a seat and die a little more.

As I put it to my best friend, that is my view of "everyone who isn't us", lol. People who put themselves in their own prisons and have this festering desire to be free of the confines that are their own fault. They wish for the greener pasture beyond the fence- but they themselves constructed that fence in the first place. If you desire normalcy, that is fine. If you desire something more and find yourself rotting in the discontent and disinterest normalcy breeds [at least in me] then you should not confine yourself to rotting. To be alive is not as easy or simple as is implied. You can live without being alive and many people do. If you look into their eyes, they aren't existing- their eyes are dead with their own apathy regarding the 'life' they have. An angel amongst zombies. That is what it feels like recently. I'm sure people have other views but I'm not them.

I'm in the mood for some quizzes so we're going to have ourselves a mini-quiz day. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

You chose brown eyes.

Brown eyed people are normally very romantic. You
love to daydream, and sometimes you get
confused with your own fantasies over reality.
You are pretty outgoing, but some days, all you
want to be, is alone, reading, or thinking by
yourself. You have many talants, and you will
probably have a very important job when you're
older.

Reality is overrated.

People see you as Truly Dark. Congradulations. Your
are dark by nature and not just because it's
cool. Dark people are not always loners but
definatly not the center of attention either.
Many people are the dark are like the shadows
and can conform into any shape they need to be.
But the dark can't be hidden forever. It's
often only a matter of time untill you tire of
the charade and show your darkness. Thus how
those in the dark remian solitary. Being dark
does not always mean your gloomy, you are
probably just artistic. Whether is be in the
drawing, music, painting, or singing. If you can
find a friend who shares your twisted ideals or
is willing to brave the iceiness of your world,
hang on to them for how rare it is to find a
light in the dark.

"Loves to joke." - Hai. "Attractive." - Opinion. "Suave and caring." - Suave? Questionable. Caring? Depends on who. "Brave and fearless." - I'm not arrogant enough to confirm that. "Firm and has leadership qualities." - I would hope so. "Knows how to console others." - It's a hobby. "Too generous and egoistic." - Too generous? Probably. Egoistic? I don't know. "Takes high pride of oneself." - 'The meek will inherit the earth.' "Thirsty for praises" - Yeah, that's pretty true. Is that a fault? lol. "Extraordinary spirit" - Might not be a good thing. "Easily angered" - Yeah. "Angry when provoked" - ... Yeah. "Easily jealous" - Unfortunately. "Observant." - Information is my greatest treasure. "Careful and cautious" - Can't be too cautious though. "Thinks quickly" - I'd hope so. "Independent thoughts." - Eh. That's not as important as people think it is. "Loves to lead and to be led." - Yeah. "Loves to dream." - Without dreams, humans are automatons. "Talented in the arts, music and defense." - Arts? Not really. Music? Not really. Defense? Most definitely. "Sensitive but not petty." - Yeah. "Poor resistance against illnesses." - Very untrue. I haven't been sick in around a year and a half, lol. I also take pride in the fact I've never broken a single bone in my body. I've sprained almost everything sprainable multiple times, but never a break. Rockin. "Learns to relax." - What the fuck does that mean anyway? That I can relax? "Hasty and trusty." - Yeah, I guess. "Romantic." - Yeah. "Loving and caring." - *sweatdrops* "Loves to make friends." - I guess.

Protagonist.

Alright. That's about it.

P.S. Okay.

P.P.S. In the words of Travis of the Cosmos, I rule you.
