Como estas?
I feel like I'm being bombarded with school work. Why is it that teacher's feel the need to pile a million different things on our backs right at the end of the year? And its just the eighth grade, too, I know it.

Just within the past two weeks we've had to do a million different things involving EDP stuff(we finally took the last section of the EDP evaluation test thingamajig today ^^). We've supposedly been trying to get through it quickly because if we don't have it all done by the end of the year, we wont be able to go on to the ninth grade because the counselor wont make us up a schedule unless she sees our EDP stuff is all done.

The one class I hate getting homework for is English, especially when its a book report. The due date is tomorrow, though I don't present until the 25th so I'm assuming I don't need to have it done and at school until then. All I need to do is find five items to represent five major plot points in the book I chose, skim through the book to find dates and towns for the setting and I'm all set. I swear to God I'll be doing that a little later tonight . . . Gotta stop procrastinating.

I got a small bit of Math homework today, but its simple stuff. Just sovling algebraic equations and writing down what the x and y values are in a table. Easy as pie stuff, just takes a bit o' thinking.

The biggest project that I've gotten within the last two weeks is a biography for Social Studies, due May 26(its still a working date, Mr. Kraft said today). He had us pass a sheet of paper around the room with the names of famous people during the Civil War era. I wanted to do John Wilkes Booth but by the time the sheet got over to my side of the room, he was already taken(I was the fifth to last person to get the paper *grinds teeth*). I ended up choosing the President of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis.

I'm quite happy I got him, actually. I've been interested in him ever since I read Rifles for Watie because the main character was named after Jefferson Davis(his name was Jefferson Davis Bussey, because his father had served in the Mexican War with Jefferson Davis and had respected him greatly, so he named his son after him).

If I don't really think about the biography too much, it seems like the due date is a long time from now but really its not. I mean, its only six and a half weeks away. That's a really short time, seeing as the weeks have just sort of been . . . flying by.

God, I can't believe in six weeks school will be out and I'll be only a few months away from becoming a freshman. And once that happens I'll only have four more years of school to go until I'm free from its clutches . . .

'till college comes around of course. But I'm not going to start thinking about that until either next year of the year after that. I want to wait until I fully decide on what I'd like to do or what I'd at least like to study in college y'know . . .

But lets move onto some other school related things shall we?

I'd forgotten all about until yesterday, but there was a contest to win a trip to Barnes & Noble going on at school. The person from each grade with the highest AR points gets to go and spend a $25 gift certificate at the Barnes & Noble in Grands Rapids at the Rivertown Crossings Mall.

Can you guess who won for the eighth grade? *grins*

Yep, twas me. I had the most AR points out of the entire eighth grade(and I still do, the contest was from the beginning of the year to the end of March and I had about 330 points probably . . . ). I've got even more points now that the contest is all over as I took two AR tests yesterday(totaling out to approximately 20 points) and one today worth 17. I'm getting so close to 400 points. I want to make 500 so bad . . . I've just got to read, read, read I guess.

I started Taggerung today, which is worth 19 points(and I'm not reading it just for the points, I really love the Redwall series) and I've still got The Wind in the Willows to finish up(though I've had it so long that when I do finish it I'll probably fail the test). I've also got another AR book that I bought at the book fair called The Invisible Man. Can't remember how much its worth but its semi-short so I'll finish it quickly.

Xio says she'll give me twenty bucks so I can buy her volumes 6 and 8 of Saiyuki if they have them at Barnes & Noble when I'm there. I plan to do it for her, even though I've finish reading 6 online and I'm working on 8 at this very moment(Xio bought 5 and 7 and we've both already read 7, though we hadn't read all of 6. Well, I hadn't until today anyway).

Gah, its so hot . . . I've got sweat all over my fingers and its just so sticky and horrible. I didn't realize it was going to be so hot this afternoon and I ended up wearing a black long sleeved shirt and black pants to school TT I was miserable and my only relief was that I pulled my sleeves up over my elbows. That made me feel at least a little cooler.

I guess its supposed to rain tomorrow or something. It sure looked like it was going to this morning, but it never did. It'll probably rain and be extremely humid, though . . . I guess I'll plan on wearing a pair of shorts tomorrow . . . Yep, that sounds good.

*scratches head* Seems like there was something else I was going to mention . . . guess not. Other than that I'm going to head off now and upload chapter 6 of "An Unexpected Degree" so look out for that in a bit, Mimmi.
