Strawberry Pretzel Dessert
-2 cups crushed pretzels (about 8 ounces)
-¨ú cup butter or margarine, melted
-3 tablespoons sugar
-2 cups whipped topping
-1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
-1 cup sugar
-1 package (6 oz) strawberry-flavored gelatin
-2 cups boiling water
-2 packages (16 oz each) frozen sliced strawberries with syrup, thawed
-Additional whipped topping (optional)
1. In a bowl, combine pretzels, butter and sugar. Press into the bottom of an ungreased 13-in x 9-in x 2-in baking pan. Bake at 350¡Æ for 10 minutes. Cool.
2. In a mixing bowl, beat whipped topping, cream cheese, and sugar until smooth. Spread over pretzel crust. Chill.
3. For topping, dissolve gelatin in boiling water in a large bowl. Stir in strawberries with syrup; chill until partially set.
4. Carefully spoon over filling. Chill for 4-6 hours or until firm. Cut into squares; serve with a dollop of whipped topping if desired. Yields 12-16 servings.
