Happy new Year!
And so we get to the year of the Ox. I hope it is a good year for everyone. This last year had some ups and downs... As do all years I suppose. Ah, here comes a bit of reflection...

2008 (year of the rat... Whichever you want to call it) didn't start well for me, and in some ways I let that throw me for a good while. To be completely honest I think I cried more that year than I have in any other... I think I let things get to me more that I would admit at the time. I tried hard with my studies and I am happy that I graduated. Looking back I think I could have tried harder in some areas, but that is difficult when life gets in the way... Besides my own worries a close friend of mine was going through a rough patch, and she isn't out of it yet, poor girl.

But anyways, I did have many good times too! I'm not going to be all doom and gloom because that would be silly. I lived with some lovely people in my last year at uni, and I am blessed to live with my friend Melissa now. I graduated! I grew closer to Craig and even though spending the whole of summer away from him was kinda hard, it was nice to spend that time with my family ^^ I got a job that I enjoy - even though the pay is currently awful and I am really living off savings... But it doesn't matter as things will get better! I have faith they will ^^ Also, I have made some good friends on here and theO and...

Oh why on earth am I babbling away like this? Haha, I was intending to tell you about my onions! So I shall. Well, they are potential onions... I planted some seeds this morning ^^ Craig planted some tomatoes too. We are planning to rent half an alotment plot this year - as soon as one becomes available at any rate. But we thought it best to get some seedlings going first, then hopefully by the time we get the alotment and have finnished digging it over we will have some things ready to plant ^^

I made some pancakes afterwards, I think they turned out nicely, I tweaked the recipe so I think I may post it on my new world. Yup. I hope everyone's week is going well, ta for visiting me and my babblings *hugs you all* Have a happy year of the Ox!

shtuff and what-not

I haven't been here for a while... My last post was on theO... I'm not quite sure what I posted about... Eh.

*goes to check* ...What's this? Trophys? Nyeh? When did THOSE appear O_O ... Oh cool, I have gold for wallpapers, cards and comments! O-Kay...

OH GAH!... I just saw a video on youtube that said 'this is a grate song' ... XP SPELLING! WRONG WORD! Pffft, not that I can spell XD haha. Anyways...

I went out for a meal with work on Tuesday evening, my Bosses paid for everyone ^^ which was very kind of them. It was nice to chat to everyone, and it was rather amusing as Hannah got drunk, she drank her wine, Vicky's wine, Gaz's beer... She was funny though. I'm not the biggest wine fan, I drank some of it, and it was alright, but I ended up donating the rest of the bottle to one of my co-workers. But seeing as I rarely drink I was slightly tipsy anyway - only slightly mind you - I just hate the feeling of being anywhere NEAR drunk... Besides, who wants a hangover? Nyeh. I walked off home afterwards smiling to myself at Hannah's antics and made four cakes ^^ yummy.

I took the cakes to work on Wednesday, my hands nearly froze on the way there as I was holding a large box with the cakes in, and even though I was wearing gloves I was still chilly. But work was fun, just me and vicky. Shame that was the only day i'll be in this week T_T 8 hours... Can't wait for this new place to open so I can have more hours.

I've been trying to find out my tax code so I can fill in this form for the Student loan company. I won't start re-paying my loan until I am earning over £15,000 ... So that'll be a long time XD and all the while the interest mounts up. Ah well, things'll sort themselves eventually. Hopefully tomorrow i'll manage to get through on the phone and get this code, so I can tell my boss, and then I can tell the student loan people - and then they will quit chasing me! Phwew!

Aaaand I get to see my Craig person tomorrow after his lectures ^^ I can has hugs! *dances*

Writing on the wall...
As I was walking to work today I took the route along the city walls. There was still plenty of grit left from last weeks frost, the sun wasn't shining, but it was a nice day... And then I noticed that some mysterious person has written on the walls! They used chalk, so it'll wash off in the rain. There were fragments of poetry in one spot, it made me smile. Every few metres there was a little extra something to discover. One spot was unfinished as they had obviously ran out of room... I really liked it.

Work was fine, we had a quiet day. Everyones hours have been cut due to this continuing 'quiet time' when we get few customers in. I'm glad I have some savings in the bank or else I wouldn't be able to pay for my bills - let alone pay the rent. So I am thankful for that. I suppose it is January and people are being more careful with their spending after christmas. Once the new shop is open we will be able to have more hours - which will be handy as I seem to only be in one day next week. I'll just have to enjoy my time off ^^ at least the cakes are going down well. I was asked today if I would like to make scones sometime as well! I'd like to try, I haven't made scones for ages...

I think this is another example of colour-madness XD but I rather like it. I'll try to make my next one a little less insane XD I am planning to make a wallpaper for a friend, so I am organising that now *nods*

Well, thats that.
Ach well. I made a cake for work yesterday evening, then it turned out they didn't need it today. Ho hum. I took it in, but my boss didn't mind. I collected more ingredients - eggs and margerine - then as I was about to leave she asked if i'd like to take the leftover mince pies ^^ that was nice of her. And I suppose at least they have an extra cake to spare XD they may need it if they had a busy day today.

My friend Helen has just left to go home, she has been staying with me since the new year, so it was sad to see her go. She has a lot of work to do, so I have tried to encourage her to do it, i'm sure she can, she just has to sit down and try her best ^^ It certainly makes me glad that I am not studying at the moment. Both Helen, my housemate, and Craig have been trying to write essays and assignments for the past few weeks. Poor things.

I tried to go for a walk with Helen before she left, we just wandered into town, but I started to feel rather sick, so we turned back. I feel better now, but I was a bit miffed that we didn't get to do what she wanted. We watched an episode of the IT Crowd instead ^^ funny stuff. I am just waiting for Craig and Melissa to get home, they should be back soon - I should go put the kettle on ^^

GIMP cakes


There is my new wallpaper, I haven't submitted one for a while. This is the first one I made with GIMP ^^ I think I did an ok job. Tis a little bright and colourful for FE, but meh. I need to experiment and find some online tutorials or something of the like. I have downloaded some nifty brush sets to use, they look like fun. I tried extracting a PNG type image yesterday as well - but it was just a simple cartoon-ish thing. I need to learn how to add textures too... Good job I have lots of time on my hands XD (silly work won't give me more hours until the new shop is opened).

I have been busy making cakes today - for the tea shop, not myself. Eight cakes in total, but they get layered together to make four sandwich cakes. I think they turned out ok, the chocolate one worked out the best *is proud* I hope my boss is happy with them. I'll be making them regularly now ^^ tis fun, but it takes a while as I can only make and cook four cakes at once. I do get to eat cake mixture though, yay!

What else to say *ponders* I think the ice is beginning to go. I hope it goes soon because i'm worried that i'll fall over. The hospital had been swamped with hundreds of people who have injured themselves due to the ice. Sometimes you just can't see it, there are odd patches where the gritters haven't covered... Bah. I hope they recover soon. I think the forecast is due to warm up then rain over the weekend. So long as it doesn't rain tomorrow and soak my precious cakes!! I've wrapped them in foil, but I think i'll stick some bags over the box too *nods*

... I should quit going on about cakes, eh? *laughs*

Drat, just missed a phonecall. Eh, my battery would have died anyway. My phone is six and a half years old, bless it ^^ the speaker is going a bit dodgy too. But I won't replace my phone till it dies! *huggles phone* I hate getting rid of things. I'm bad with clothes too, my jeans are feeling sorry for themselves, but I like them. I'm not in a clothes shopping mood, I just find it a hassle. *shrugs* besides which I don't have much of a disposable income. Heh. Tisn't much of a bother, I don't need much XD and things tend to work out *nods*

New year and all that stuff ^^
Happy new year to everyone ^^ I hope you all had fun last night, whether you were out counting down the secconds, with family, working, or just doing everyday stuff *smiles* I went to my old housemates home, it was a bundle of fun. He has crazy music tastes [hurrah!] so his playlist was fantastic. We all pratted about and danced like loons XD plus both Al and Chris had been given fancy digital cameras for christmas, so there were lots of photos taken. I love seeing those guys, because if you didn't know them you would probobly think they were all either drunk/high on caffiene - or both. But they are just crazy - so everyone else joins in XD

The bottom of my jeans got ripped though - but thats no biggie, as they were already in shreds due to my legs being a bit on the short side XD but it ripped along the bit that I had folded up, so there was a hole big enough for me to get my foot stuck in... And while I was dancing about with Al and Helen [just basically holding hands and twirling around in circles too fast heh heh] my foot got caught -- and down we all fell. Hahaha fun times. A good bit of childish hyper-activity never hurt anyone!

Are any of you making new years resolutions? I don't normally bother myself. I think a general wish to try my best, be helpful and not to worry about things should be my resolution... Bit vague, eh? *laughs* sometimes I get too worked up about things... But I am very thankful for what I have. My family, friends - both on here and people I know in person, Craig ^^ , this chance to live my life and have my own space, a job that I enjoy... I must not forget these. Not that I do forget them! I didn't mean that. I'm just not so good at explaining things *shrugs* but worrying won't help so I should try to quit that! XD Tis harder than it sounds though...

Oh yeah, I should try harder to be more active and get up at a decent hour when I have days off XD that's always a struggle for me. Even if I am reading in bed, it is too tempting to just stay there in the warm. Perhaps I should set myself goals or something... This whole resolution stuff takes some thought!

Am lazy and posting same post as my world... Pretty much ^^
*whispers* Craig has fallen asleep on the sofa - awwwww bless his little cotton socks ^^ *pets him*

Ah, my first post after Christmas ^^ I hope everyone is well and that you all had a lovely time over christmas, even if you had loads of work to cope with, as I am sure some of you did. I managed to get the coach home to my parents house *smiles* so I was my parents Christmas gift XD I survived the 8 hour journey well enough, although I did get a little touch of travel sickness XP

Christmas itself was quiet, but fun, just spent it at home with family. It felt lovely to be in a house with festive decorations up ^^ and my mum made lots of yummy food. I made dinner on christmas eve, which went down well. I also visited my granny in the care-home, she seemed rather awake for most of the visit, even though she is rather fragile. On boxing day I visited my Uncle and Aunt's house for a meal - my Aunt had made mince-meat icecream! Yum, the flavour of mincepie in an icecream, I was rather impressed. I also had the chance to speak to my little cousin on the phone, he was dead cute! He is only 5, and he sounded all excited about christmas and was trying to explain about his new toys - although I didn't understand what he was speaking about XD haha.

I travelled back yesterday, and today (28th) I went to visit the zoo! There is a new butterfly house and you can walk among the plants with pretty tropical butterflies around you! It was lovely and warm in there... Quite a contrast to the outdoors where all the ponds were iced over *shivers* I took some photos, but I need batteries so my camera can hook up to my laptop and send over the pictures. I'll post one of a flutterfly in my world.

We also went into the bat cave at the zoo, it is full of fruit bats and other smaller ones, they all fly around in this big twilight-lit cave and you are free to wander about as you like. I think bats are cute ^^ but then i've always been rather nature/animal obsessed XD Tis odd that many people get freaked out because they think the bats will fly into their hair - as if the bats would want to!

Well, thats the big news over and done with methinks ^^ a big welcome back to Caprisha ^^ I missed you muchly. I haven't been online much as my wireless connection is still playing up and disconnecting me for the fun of it, so I realise I will have missed most peoples submissions and posts... I don't mean to neglect anyone, but I do get busy and/or distracted ^^

Not even cake helps...
Anna is feeling grotty... Sometimes being a girl can be SUCH a pain in the... Um... You get the idea. Not fun. Dang cramps T_T

I made little cup-cakes/fairy-cakes of awesomeness though XD I wanted to take some to my christmas meal at work, so last night I made the cake mixture with Craig, then iced and decorated them when he had left to catch his train home. I had wanted to make them all Christmassy, but couldn't find any decorations that would work. In the end I just used butter-icing on the top, then added sprinkles and little sweets ^^ I think they were the best ones I have made so far.

The Christmas meal at work was nice. I turned up early though, because I was told to be there at 3pm, when it actually started at 4:30pm. Oh well. We had Christmas dinner ^^ roast turkey and veg etc, tasty. I took the cakes along and everyone said they were nice *smiles* so I think me+Craig make an awesome cake baking team *grins*

It was nice to meet other people from the shops next door to where I work, I liked the couple from the piercing shop, they were fun. Although the dude from the piercing shop did make a comment on my cakes "i'll have the one with the cherry on - it looks like a boobie!" O_O ah well, he ate two of the cakes, so at least he ejoyed them XD

I'm in work tomorrow, then I think I am off for Christmas ^^ although i'm not going home... Didin't know when I could get time off, so I never booked a ticket home... Tis ok though, i'm going to invade Craig's home ^^ which reminds me, I need to wrap his present up...
