Crisis Adverted
I went to the dentist, got some X-rays taken and received a surprisingly VERY thorough cleaning by an assistant.

The doctor came and checked me out: I have no cavities (yay!), but instead I have 2 cracked fillings that need to be repaired - that explains the toothaches I'd been having - I don't know what the procedure is, but I guess I'll find out in February.

All in all, it turned out to be a good visit.
