CHAPTER 1
PAUL


Riiiiiiiiiiing! The lunch bell rung and Paul gathered up his books for another lonely day at lunch. Today he decided to skip lunch and go to the library to continue his reading of his horror book Dream catcher. Paul was a loner. He didn’t have any friends. He just like to be by himself. However, that was about to change.

Paul took the usual way home today. Walk down Kinsley, turn right on Benjamin, turn left down the ally and hop the fence. Then go down into the abandon subway to Kingsford. The subway was always dark. He walked along seeing boarded up entrances and hearing the creaking of the rats. He was closing in on halfway. He could see the planks and barrels of his “stronghold” as he referred to it as, for it was a place to were he can be alone for no one comes down here. He remembers when he made his stronghold. It was four years ago he was running from a couple of bulldogs that summer and ran down into the reason the dogs didn’t fallow. He heard them like whimper in fear but saw nothing that would scare them. So Paul walked down the subway and found this whole bunch of junk just sitting around and on top of a plank board there was a card and in the top left corner it said Spiritual Visit. He thought nothing of it and decided to keep it. Paul decided to make a fort out of the stuff, but decided to make it look like a pile of rubbish so no one could find him. He went there everyday and spent all day working on it. The first day he spent sorting the stuff to make room to build. When he sorted all the stuff he found a pile of bricks and started to move them and wile he was doing it he found a hollowed out secret passage that apparently no one found until now. It was the size of about a walk in closet with out the drawers or selves. So, he left it that way for a couple of days. During those days, he went to the library to look at books about secret passages and how to build them. He found the perfect book on a sale pile and it was free. It also seemed that no one seemed to look at. He studied the perfect passage and went to the subway and started to build the passage and the book showed ho to make so no one could find it. With two months he put some of his stuff in and was complete.
He remembers that a year later running from the two bullies that tormented him. He hid in his place all day. He remembers finishing “Tarzan King of Apes” that day looking at his wall of books. That day he found a card on the tracks called Raise the Alarm.
Then two years ago the weirdest thing happened the subway flooded and he could not get down there for a week, but when he was able and by the time he got to the fort everything was wet, except for the inside it was really strange and the strangest part was yet in the middle of the floor there was another card Stir the Pride.
Then just last year the secret passage door was found and demolished, so he dicieded to rebuild the wall this time it took him two days to rebuild the wall. When it was complete he found a card called Test of Faith were the pile of rubble used to be.
After pondering on his memories he pulled out the mento book had his little trinkets, a cocoon pod, the four mystery cards, a baseball, an unusual pink and green poky doted shoelace he found, and many more random stuff. He turned and looked at the rickety old coo coo clock that he fixed last week and saw it was time to go. He turned of the mini generator, closed the passage door and headed off for home.
When he got to the old apartment building what he called home, he checks the mail. It was only him and his mom, his dad left them when he was only three. All that was addressed to him, but how could this be. He had no friends. He rushed on the stairs, open the apartment, put the bills on the table and went in his room. Rushed to his bed, tore open the letter and read:


Dear Mr. White,
We are pleased to inform you that you are excepted for a study for great intelegence. We have selected you through a series of accounts and will be expecting you to come to our study. Enclosed is a list of instructions and two items in which will shed some light on the situation. We have already noticed your parent and have told we are to expect you. We will pick you up on September 23. Further notice were and when will announced to you at a later time.

Mr. Cornelius Fox

After reading the letter, Paul set the letter down. It was really weird getting a letter like that. He picked up the letter with the instruction and all it said was:
If you want to learn more place the five cards in a pentagon and the Plains in the center.
With out a second thought he opened his window, went out the fire escape and ran to the stronghold. Opened the passage door grabbed the trinket box and ran back to his room. The whole time he was thinking what in all the heavens is going on. When he got to his room he took out the cards and put them in a clockwise pisition from the first one he got to the last. Spiritual Visit, Raise the Alarm, Stir the Pride, Test of Faith, Honor Guard, and plains in the center. There was a flash of light. Paul looked up and there he saw a white hooded figure. The figure spoke.
“Hello Paul.”
Paul replied “Hello. How do you know my name?”
“I’m Cornelius Fox the one that sent the letter.”
“Ummm…. Mr. Fox why do you want me?”
“I was hoping you were going to ask that, Paul. You see you and four other teens are part of a prophecy.”
“It says this, but I worn you this was foretold before the beginning of your world. Do you still want to hear it?”
“Yes.”
“Ok then ‘In a century the Kami will be hunted and a fall to our world will begin. Villages will suffer and creatures will seise to exist. Wars will rage with no end. Yet there is hope five young heroes will band together and bring back what our world once was. These heroes will find the five imprisoned dragon spirits that fled our world years ago. Not until the five dragon stars are found can peace be brought to all worlds.’ Now you know. Will you still help us?”
Paul thought. He was part of a prophecy years ago before earth was formed. He knew his answer. “Yes I’ll go, but what will I have to do? What do I need to bring? What does this all mean?”
“You will find out later,” he said in a soothing voice, “for now rest and you will be told with the others. I will send you a letter that will tell you what to bring, ok?”
“Ok.”
And with knowing that Paul fell asleep in the most peaceful way.

CHAPTER 2
ILISA


Beep Beep Beep. The alarm went off and Ilisa knew it was going to be another “exciting” day at work. She worked at a bookstore restocking and helping people find the book they wanted. She found it confusing because it was a three-story store and it was hard for her to help them find the exact place. At least it was a job. After work she would always head to the school, because the best thing was there was a storage room in the school. She stumbled upon it four years ago trying to find her kitten. She found a secret entrance into the school behind an ivory bush. She thought someone would have found it, but no evidenced showed that it was in use. So she dicided to get her stuff and make a little house that was all hers.
After work, she went to her little house. She trained her cat to go there, but today the cat wasn’t there. So Ilisa dicited to clean a little and she found her scrapbook. She flipped through the pages and found the card that her cat, Snowball, brought to her the day she found her “House away from home.” That day when she read what it was called she got a little freaked out. Murmurs from Beyond, common that had to freak anybody out.
She flipped the page and there was the second card she got. This card changed her life forever. It was to years ago, and it was the most frightening thing she ever saw. What happened was she was climbing a tree getting Jeff (the boy she was babysitting). From the tree, they heard a crash. She told Jeff to climb higher and to stay in the leaves and not to make a sound. She went to the ground and went to the front, out of sight. She saw a guy yelling at this woman for hitting him; he was obviously drunk because he was the one who had hit her. The guy pulled out a gun and shot the lady. The woman fell down dead. She went to the back the back and told Jeff to come down. They went in side and she called the police. She told them what happened. After Ilisa told them what happened she went to her H.A.M. (house away from home) and found a card called Echoing Truth.
She flipped the page agin and saw her most prized possession. It was a card called Secretkeeper. She prized it because her best friend Robin and her family had moved to Japan because her dad’s company had moved him there so he could learn the new equipment. Robin had given her the card to remember her by.
Peeeeer.
“Ahhh. Snowball you scared me. What’s this you got? A letter from who? Let’s find out.”

Dear Miss Bluerigard,
We are informing you that you are a part of a prophecy. This may be hard to believe, but we now from close observation. We will send you a letter out and you shall receive it tomorrow with instructions for you to find out more, and then I may speak to you.

Miss Emily Ravencroft

“Snowball were did you get this? Did Joey give this to you? I’m going to kill him.” She shook the letter and saw something fell. It was a card called Tommorrow, Azami’s Familiar.
“Ok, maybe Joey wasn’t the one who sent this. Well Snowball we’ll have to see what tomorrow brings.”
The next day Ilisa woke up early and went to her H.A.M. when she got there, to her surprise there was a letter just like lady Ravencroft said. She quickly tore open the letter and read the instructions:
Put the five cards in a pentagon and
Place the Island in the center.

She went to her scrapbook and got the three cards. She put them in a pentagon starting with: Murmurs from Beyond, Echoing Truth, Secretkeeper, Sea’s claim. What! Wait, Tommorrow, Azami’s Familiar was missing, luckily she taught Snowball how to fetch.
“Snowball go and get the card that you brought me yesterday and I’ll give you a big fish.”
Meow. And out went Snowball. She had always given Snowball fish for a job well done. The whole time Snowball was gone all she could think was what was going to happen and what was she going to find out.
Peeer. Snowball walked in and she had the card. Ilisa dashed over and took the card. Fortunately she kept packages of wet food for Snowball. She grabbed the extra bowl and put two packets of fish in. She put Tommorrow, Azami’s Familiar with the others. Then she placed the Island in the center. A flash of blue light and a blue hooded figure stood before her.
“Hello, Ilisa. I’m Emily Ravencroft. Do you have any questions for me?”
“Yeah. Ummm… what is with me and this prophecy?”
“The stats this, is it ok of I give the full version?”
“Sure.”
“Right were wore we, ‘In a century the Kami will be hunted and a fall to our world will begin. Villages will suffer and creatures will seise to exist. Wars will rage with no end. Yet there is hope five young heroes will band together and bring back what our world once was. These heroes will find the five imprisoned dragon spirits that fled our world years ago. Not until the five dragon stars are found can peace be brought to all worlds.’ Ilisa Know you know. Will you help us?”
Ilisa thought for a couple of moments. She was part of a prophecy.
“Yes I’ll help.”
“You shall not bring any thing else until you are notified. I shall send a letter for what you need to bring. We will bring you to our building on September, twenty-third. A letter will reach you on the twenty-second. Is the any more questions?”
“Just one. How do you know I’m the one?”
“You shall find out with the others. Before I go I have this to say, have fun and be careful all will be well if you stay safe. Farwell.”
“Wow! Snowball this is really weird. Snowball?”
She turned around and there with Snowball were five beautiful kittens and each of them had a special marking: a skull, a fireball, a water drop, a sun, and a tree.
