   Quite Pleased
I'm quite pleased with our launch--it really took a herculean effort to get everything off the ground.

Yes, there are some trivial programming glitches here and there and it's true we still have some 'refining' to do with the design, but considering the scope of this project, I think it went well.

Our plans for theOtaku have been ReDefined.

You might want to check the site tomorrow night. And keep that refresh button handy.

   Single Girl In My Area
So I saw a fancy flash-based banner ad today that claimed to be 'searching' my area for local girls.

A few seconds passed by and this ad presented me with a few pictures of 'single girls' in my area.

Here's a screen shot:

Wait a second...I recognize that third girl. Isn't she the model for GoDaddy.com? Why, yes she is! And that's the exact same photo of her!

I'm glad this particular online dating service thought its thousands of real members were too ugly to put in its ads. Not a good sign.

   Really Great Advertising!
I must say, Dreamworks has been doing a stellar job of promoting its upcoming Ghost in the Shell 2 movie. I've seen an insane number of advertising for it, on anime and movies sites in general.

Heck, they even got me to give the movie a plug. Though they had to bribe me by sponsoring a small contest. (Why not enter yourself?)

I purchased a $20 software program yesterday that's been a huge blessing for me. It's called QuickLogin and lets me instantly login to dozens of websites at once.

This program probably saves me around 15 minutes per day. As a webmaster, I'm constantly logging into places, so it's a real life-saver. Highly recommended.

Now here's the big question: Are there any productivity tools you use that you'd like to recommend?

   Senior Year
If you think your senior year of high school is/was stressful, absolutely nothing compares to senior year of college.

I mean, when you're applying to colleges in high school, you know at least you'll end up going to one of them.

Graduating college is a completely different story.

Do you try and go into business for yourself? Do you apply to graduate school--if so what do you specialize in and where? Grad school is NOTHING like undergrad, you really have to be crazy-obsessed about a certain subject--or do you apply to work at a corporation, of which hundreds are recruiting?

These are all the questions hitting me on the head right now. I've always been very passionate about starting a company. But there are so many pressures toward going to either grad school or getting a corporate job.

Stressful!

East Coast Rulez
I've returned to the East Coast after my marvelous little trip that pitted my wits against Rennies (who aren't as cool as otaku-ites), In-N-Out burgers, ridiculously sloped streets, and tumultuous weather.

Now, back to business.

One of the things I've been thinking about lately has been FounderWeb.com. This was a little site I decided to develop last Winter. We needed something to generate Guru quizzes and I also figured our readers are interested in learning HTML.

But how does FounderWeb really fit into our overall strategy? It doesn't and, for that reason, I'm sorry to say that we're going to eventually phase this "brand" out.

Enjoy it while it lasts. ^_^

Greetings from Sunny (or Not-So) California
I randomly decided to take a weeklong vacation to the West Coast. I haven't been here in years and, after having worked ridiculously hard this summer, I felt I needed a tiny break.

So far so good!

(Just trying to get used to the weather here. One day it's melting my skin, the next I feel like a snowman.)

I'm extremely pleased with how everything is going site-wise. Since we've optimized the server (and we're still doing it), we've experienced a 20% surge in traffic.
Also, Justin is really banging away on Version Re:Defined.

Yesterday, I went to one of those Renaissance fairs, quite randomly--I saw it as I walked through the park. No, that's not why I came to Cali, and no I didn't dress up as a medieval swordsman.

The whole thing left a strange taste in my mouth. I don't think I've previously seen such a concentrated hub of dorkiness.

Hoping today is warmer than not.

Outsourcing
I hired an Israeli systems administrator last night to monitor and optimize our server for some extra performance. His biggest competitor for this job was a Romanian.

Isn't outsourcing grand? It is I think for small projects like this.

Hopefully his hardware tweaks and tunes can save me some money on getting a new server. ^_^

   Tri-Force Sighting #2
I've discovered yet another random site that uses a modified Zelda Tri-Force in its design. Fun.

This time it's blue
