   my first rant ..... ^_^
ok, i am going to rant... i don't normaly do that, but this bugs me.

ok, as anyone who has ever recorded knows, MIDI is probably the most powerful tool knows to the moder music industry. with this amazing connection, you can emulait almost any sound, record over 124 voices of at once along with all of it's timing, tuning, velocity, etc. you can edit these notes at any time. in real time, in post editing or what ever. muli tracking with MIDI is a dream. the options are limitless. if this is all true, then why do MIDIs suck!?!? i have yet to find one MIDI file that sounds good at any piont. i know that most MIDI files are made to be used on GM (a.k.a. general MIDI = a preset 128 sound patches that are used on just about every keyboard, computer, modual, whatever in the world) so they sound very generic, but do those sounds have to suck soooo bad? i've heard a thousand piano sounds that don't take up to much space that sound a world better. i think the fat men who first put MIDI into the avarge sound card did it to piss us off.

fat #1 = hey, we can make more money if we include MIDI on all computers.

fat #2 = yea, but if every one has it, then they won't buy our really nice ones that are over priced and work just the same.

fat #1 = maybe, but they won't know that it's the same thing if we only put on these stupid sounds that sound so aweful you have no idea what you are listening to. the ones that have no right to exist, then they'll think it's just a cheesy card and will still pay way to much for our over-rated, under preforming sound cards.

fat #2 = yes, that might work! and we'll have musicans all over the world pissed off forever!... what will we call these cheesy sounds?

fat #1 = ... um, cheesy midi?

fat #2 = that's stupid. it'll never sell!

fat #1 = um......

fat #2 = um......

fat #3 = ...... g e n e r a l ... m i d i .....

fat #1&2 = THAT'S IT!!!

i hate that. GM sucks and MIDIs suck to. we are wasting technology! this is just wrong
