B. Manifest Destiny - A policy of imperialism rationalized as inevitable.

D. Annex - The incorporation of some territory into another geo-political entity.

E. “Mexican War” - The Mexican–American War (NOT the “Mexican War” as the book so vaguely puts it) was an armed military conflict between the United States and Mexico from 1846 to 1848 in the wake of the 1845 U.S. annexation of Texas. Mexico claimed ownership of Texas as a breakaway province and refused to recognize the secession and subsequent military victory by Texas in 1836.

G. Kansas-Nebraska Act - The Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854 created the territories of Kansas and Nebraska, opened new lands, repealed the Missouri Compromise of 1820, and allowed settlers in those territories to determine if they would allow slavery within their boundaries. The initial purpose of the Kansas-Nebraska Act was to create opportunities for a Transcontinental Railroad. It was not problematic until popular sovereignty was written into the proposal. The act was designed by Democratic Senator Stephen A. Douglas of Illinois.

Though I doubt you’re looking for that answer, the idiots who wrote this book need to be smacked in the face with a block of tofu. I believe the question the book meant was “What is secession?” I’ll create the question, now.

Secession - (Derived from the Latin term secessio), is the act of withdrawing from an organization, union, or especially a political entity.
